Coverage should be one of the things to consider. although I've never been on Verizon, I can see that their coverage is more thorough compared to Sprint. I have no idea what Verizons plans are, but I can tell you that being a Sprint customer, about the only thing that really pisses me off about Sprint, is that they still charge for roaming, unlike Cingular, which I had before, and I could take my phone anywhere in the US, PR and the USVI, with no roaming charges, I don't know if verizon has nation plans like this, or if they do it like sprint, where they sodomize you if you make a roaming call. I can't comment on Verizon's CS, but Sprint CS has been good for me, as good as cingulars's was. Remember for us power users, they're always gonna come short at some point or other. We probably know more about the phones than they do, actually we do know more about the phones.
America's Choice, which covers about 60-75% of the country geographically.
SingleRate Nationwide (I could have the name slightly off there, might be National SingleRate) - 100% coverage, a bit more expensive per month.
Well, they also have the new Express Network plans, which like Sprint's Vision plans, are insanely expensive and not yet worth it.
If you want good coverage, AT&T and Verizon are the way to go. Not sure about Cingular, I think that they're close to 100% coverage too.
Sprint and Voicestream (now T-Mobile) are the only providers that don't have 100% coverage or at least the option for 100% coverage.
As someone said, it depends on where you live... If you're in the Northeast, stay far, far away from Sprint, who is along with T-Mobile as one of only two wireless providers that can't even cover all of New Jersey and Long Island. Sprint might be viable in other areas, but be careful...
Call Forwarding Vs. 'Busy/No Answer' Call Forwarding
The feature I was referring to that Verizon offers (which I sorely miss) is not the standard call forwarding which both Sprint and Verizon offer. When I had Verizon service I had their 'Busy/No Answer' Call Forwarding.
This service allows you to select the number of rings you want to come through to your phone, after which it will call forward for you. To the best of my knowledge, the only call forwarding Sprint has is the vanilla version that most cellular services offer, which after you have dialed in a code (like 72#), ALL of your calls are forwarded to the number you enter after the code, NEVER giving you the opportunity to selectively answer the phone before it forwards.
Verizon may have discontinued this service, but I do not believe so.

They still have this service-- at least I do- after 3 rings, off it goes to whatever number I choose.
I've had both services. In fact I've had 4 services in 2 years. I'm currently with Verizon. IMHO, it all depends on the coverage you need. My cell is my only phone, and I have a small business, and I live at the edge of the digital coverage in my area, so I have a different set circumstances.
Its like with anything else, each person has to evaluate whats best for them. Thats the whole idea of having choices, isnt it?

Yea, and we don't talk bad about each other's Mothers as well!!
If true, does anyone know if we can use the 7135 to surf on a laptopdesktop via Vision? I think we discussed this before and there is a small discussion in the sprintusers forumn on it. But maybe some of the beta testers might know better.

Interesting.... if it's true that would blow the doors off of anything that Verizon is currently offering. I'm a bit sceptical though... it's such a huge difference from their old Vision plans. And I didn't get to read all of the posts over at sprintusers... but it appears that in 7 pages nobody has been able to definitively solve the mystery. I guess 10/19 is a date to watch.

I think it's pretty safe to assume that if Sprint is desperate enough to do this, Verizon will slash prices for their unlimited Express Network plan not too long after. Verizon isn't stupid...

Yep, that's the way it has gone in the past.

I applaud the Verizonistas for their loyalty but I've never understood the compulsion to lift oneself up on the carcasses of others.
If I'm being served to a level I'm happy with why is it anyone else's concern. Besides, if one half of the Verizon/Sprint option disappears everybody will be worse off. I hope the impulse to be a better service than the other keeps lifting us all with them.

Well, maybe I can be the one to solve the mystery.... While on the phone with Sprint a couple of days ago, JJ was told about the new plans coming out this weekend... the plan we were told about was $110$-2500min, unlimited n&w, unlimited vision, and pcs-pcs, with 2 phones sharing the minutes.... Sounds like an incredible deal, but that plan does not include wireless web (which those of us without a 7135 need until it comes out)......

Yes, definitely an incredible deal.... and probably enough to make just about anyone want to upgrade to a Vision phone and plan. They are being more agressive than I expected!

I agree! The more carriers that are competing for our business, the better the service will be and also pricing will remain competitive.
Originally posted by Robert K. Yeah... I don't know if any of you have seen this.... but these are supposedly Sprint's new plans... New Sprint plans! If I got the $60 plan with 800 minutes, and added unlimited data for $10 I'll be paying almost $100 less per month than I expected to have to pay! I hope those plans are really going to happen.... and I hope it forces Verizon to come close to matching them.
I printed that web page out in case it goes away. I'm looking at the $45 plan. Compared to a Verizon Express Net $55 plan it gives me 100 more anytime, unlimited data, unlimited night and weekend. Daayyummm.
Only thing I need to know is when the special will end as we all know it won't last very long. Would be nice if handset protection insurance would let one get credit on another phone like say I got a treo300, then, after the 7135 or the i500 came out the treo befell an unfortunate "accident". Would be nice if they would let me pay the deductable and get another phone, but that's just a pipe dream. I'll wait till just before the special ends. Assuming verizon hasn't matched, then I'll be forced to get a treo.
While I predict these plans will be "lifetime", at some point I would expect sprint to do what verizon did with texas minute bank. I got a letter saying "to better serve you we are changing the layout of your invoice. the new invoice doesn't allow for roll-over unused minutes so those minutes will be lost as of 8/02" Didn't take long for lawyers to spot the inequity and sue, so they settled by upping the anytime minutes by 200 in leiu of lost rollover minutes.
