Smile Use PDA+Sync to send PC's Outlooks mails

Hi,

when travelling in other countries, I don't want to use GPRS/UMTS to receive/send mails (costs). I want to write the mails on my laptop, but I want to send/receive them with the PDA when I don't have my laptop with me, but encounter a Wifi hotspot.

Basically my idea is to
- write the e-mail on the laptop in Outlook
- Put in in the outbox
- Sync outbox/inbox from laptop to pda
- Use the pda to send them via Wifi + fetch new mails when I'm "on the road"
- Sync outbox/inbox from pda to laptop
repeat, ...

Would that work with a Windows mobile PDA?
I've heart that the iPhone cannot sync Outlook mails, so that probably won't work there. Right?

Thanks!

Thomas

You won't sync the mail that way, at least, not on any PDA that I'm aware of (and definitely not WM). The mail that's synced is simply the mail that's already present. Messages in the Outbox will "hang out" until you connect the laptop and send from there. You might be able to make this work with a third-party add-on that will sync the outgoing mail that hasn't been delivered, but those would likely be paid software.

PerfAlbion,

thanks for your answer! Could you explain this a bit?

Is the outbox synchronized (by activesync) at all?

I thought, if any, this one would work as it's closest to windows.

Might it work to open them and send them again? On desktop-Outlook that helps for messages "hanging" in the outbox.
