OK, I feel I have now technically moved into stupid for some reason.

I thought that sprints network was 3g but in Sprint technology....EVDO. I thought the 3g terminology was used on Verzon and other carriers.

So here's the question: I have seen 2 Sprint commercials, the first with the CEO of sprint talking about the worlds first 4g network and 2nd a commercial about a Samsung phone on Sprint "so you can truly experience what a 3G phone can do". Huh!!!!????

Can someone please explain to me?

I understand the transition from 3G to 4G but the rest has got me scratching my head...lol.

Cheers!!

EVDO is the latest evolution in 3G and the bandwidth is about to its maximum capacity...

"4G" is the next evolution. att and verizon are going with LTE--Long Term Evolution-- and will be showing handsets appearing around 2010.

Sprint is going head strong with WiMAX/Xohm with a Clearwire/Sprint merger thats just been approved by the fcc.

Sprint have a test market in chicago right now using their "4G" technology--coined WiMAX/Xohm. Sprint are looking to get their handsets out by mid year 2009--they hope to be up and running wlel before att and verizon roll out their "4G" service, again coined LTE.
