About 6 months ago, I renewed my two year contract by upgrading to a texting phone (but not a
PDAPhone) with a qwerty layout. I didn't realize how useful a
PDAPhone would be to me until just now. I would like to upgrade to a 6800, without paying FULL retail price and so I'd have to wait for another 18 months, since they only allow "new every two".
I am on a family plan, however, and my father's line is eligible for an upgrade a month from now. What I would like to know is if the following will work, or if there are any Verizon terms/policies that would prohibit it from working:
1. My father upgrades his line to the 6800, since he'd be eligible to do so
2. Wait a couple of days before switching, so Verizon doesn't ask any questions
3. Switch my phone and his phone, so that my current phone will be active with his line, and the 6800 will be active under my line
Doing it this way will save me from having to pay full retail price ($600-something) and I'd be able to get it with the "new every two" discounted price.
So my question to all of you is, would the outlined strategy work, or will Verizon not allow it?
thank you all in advance
