Adding a BT GPS to the 820.
Below are pictures taken while adding an GPS Slim 236 to the 820. The 236 was disassembled and the USB and battery connector were removed. A whole was drilled at the bottom of the extended battery and wires were run through it. The wires were soldered to the battery tabs and then to the gps tabs. I could have made it even thinner by not using the 236s outer cover, but, this way was a lot faster and I wanted to test the battery usage out first. The unit was attached to the battery using Friendly plastic. The attachment is only to the extended battery, nothing is attached to the phone. I can swap batteries and not have the gps unit. It is not the prettiest and certainly adds thickness to the phone, but, the main goal was to share a common battery. Im still testing battery usage and will post more as I know.
