text messaging

I'm new to the forum, but have been following the posts for sometime. Great infomation on this site.

The question that I have is does the PN820 have T9 input available for text messaging? and if so, how is it activated as default?

I know that T9 exists on this phone, as I have seen it in action when I edit "my text".

There has got to be a simple solution to this and I have apparently overlooked it. <No surprise there>

Please help. My thumb is tired and would greatly appreciate any advice.

Use your left softkey or the * key depending on what program you are in. For example, when replying to a text message and you are not in t9 mode, hold down the asterick key until the menu pops up and then select t9. Usually it will then stay on by default.

There is also another setting in the registry and a couple of places where you can set the t9 to default, but this is usually the easiest way, since you have to switch out of t9 alot to put in websites or password, etc.

Thank you.

I knew it had to be so simple that I was overlooking it.

Send a message via AIM to Shaka

You can also just TAP the * key to rotate through the various input methods. In the top right corner you can see what method you are in (t9, T9, 123, etc). This is helpful if all you want to do is tap the * once to capitalize a letter, and then it defautls back to t9 from T9.

Thank you! Couldn't find that anywhere and I've been without it for a long time.
