Bluetooth ActiveSync - MS Device Stack with Widcomm PC Stack

I hope I have not missed anything already posted in this issue. I have searched the archives and read through the postings that I could find.

I can not use ActiveSync over bluetooth. The device "Cannot connect using Bluetooth to a PC that supports ActiveSync...". All other bluetooth needs seem to work fine including BT DUN (PDANet Service) and BT GPS (Garmin Mobile 10) to both Garmin Application and Google Maps on the PN-820 and BT GPS (Garmin Mobile 10, Google Maps, MS Mappoint) and the PN-820 (PDANet) on the PC. To make it worse, I am 95% certain that when I initially set up the PC BT, that on the initial pairing, I did have ActiveSync as a service and know that I have successfully synched over BT (with that service I think). I am not sure what made the service go away and can not get it back. Everything I have read leads me to believe that there is a known problem with ActiveSync over BT when the two devices use different Bluetooth stacks.

The PC is shown on the phone as a device and is paired successfully. The PC only advertises the Serial Port as a service. The PC port is set the same for the service and ActiveSync.

I have deleted the pairing several times, changed the ports (hi and low/now at 9) and done everything else I can think about.

My next thought is that I need to replace the MS Stack on the device with a Widcomm Stack or vice versa on the PC.

Thoughts or other ideas before I undertake either of these registry intensive tasks.

Update / Closing
I went with upgrading the Widcomm stack on the PC. Note that there are some postings about the replacement of the MS stack on devices. Initially, I tried to replace the Widcomm stack with the current MS stack but found that MS did not support PCMCIA (I use an older Belkin CF device in an adapter / sticks out 3/8" and I have not lost or broken yet) devices. In the end, upgraded my Widcomm to the most current (5.1.0.1100) with support for my older Silicon Radio chip. Reconfigured and ActiveSync has worked great since.
