Syncing with MS Vista

I have several questions but here are two to start with:

1. I am having problems with just syncing with vista (after downloading the updated active sync for Vista. I set up the partnership and it synced once. But now vista doesn't recognize it anymore. I get two contrary messages: (A) The USB device is not recognized and (b) the driver for this device is already installed. Any suggestions?

2. I am currently running office/outlook 2003 for calendar and contacts, but in vista office outlook is apparently on the way out and the apparently preferred applications are Windows Calendar and Windows Contacts. Does anyone know how to sync with these?

I have more but this is probably enough for now.

(PS What a pain Vista is overall. It looks dandy but there are a lot of problems. I don't recommend it at this point. Everything is more complicated and the system is very buggy. I have spent three days on it so far and still have not got everything transferred over and running from my XP machine. (I have the new Vaio VGC LS37e and it comes loaded with vista...no options in the OS.) Love the machine but am not getting along with vista at all.

I would check or disable the firewall and try syncing again. Those kind of errors can be firewall related. I know that it says it will have no problems with setting it up with the download, but it doesn't always get the firewall connections right.

Thank you. That was helpful. I completely uninstalled Mobile Device Center, reinstalled and giggled the fire wall settings. Seems to be working fine now.

Always get a helpful answer here! This is a good place.
