Contacts do not appear

I press Contact button and nothing happens. Contacts do not appear. Turning phone off and on fixes this problem.

Anyone can comment on that?

My comment is that sucks! No really it sounds like your phone is locking up every now and then. Are programs installed on the storage card or in the phone memory? If possible, make sure programs are not in the phone memory as that can help cause lockups.

Others (including me) have had this problem as well. See previous discussion [where, ironically, you commented!] here:

http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/pante...-contacts.html

The consensus seems to be that a memory issue is involved. But I've not seen or heard of a permanent resolution. I might go to a 3rd party contacts utility.

I think it is more of an os problem than a memory problem, but not enough memory could be causing the os to screw up. I have tons of contacts and have only run into this problem every once in awhile. But it is not just contacts, the phone basically stops responding to all commands until rebooted or battery removed/replaced.

If it is happening routinely (>5X/week)there might actually be something wrong with your phone

I'm getting the same thing everynow and then (press contacts and nothing happens). Using the built in contacts manager. Now I do have programs installed on the device as opposed to the memory card.

I don't understand why storing programs on the memory card would help since there's Ram on the phone, as well as storage space. One doesn't take away from the other - just like on a regular computer. Right?

Send a message via AIM to Shaka

I saw this thread back when it first started but never had issues. Since then, I've had it happen 2x (but they were nearly 2 weeks apart) where the contacts wont show, but all other features of the phone work, including making/receiving calls. I think it is OS related as sj said above -- doubt it is memory as Resco System Toys shows memory was more than fine remaining in both cases.

A good software reboot did the trick to fix the issue. Franky, being that I do IT part-time at my office I can tell you that restarting most computers at least every other week if not weekly is ideal.. so having to soft reset the PN-820 as frequently doesnt bother me in the slightest.

I have had this happen every now and then and have found that if I exit the contacts without getting back at least to the main contact page (where there is just the list of names) this type of lock up will happen. I have to make sure I back out to that point before I exit the contacts or before I use resco to close the app or I will have the problem of contacts not working and have to do the soft reset to get them working again. So maybe you want to check how far out you are when you are done with your contacts before you close the phone and see if that has something to do with the issue. Good luck.

Is there a smartphone scheduling program out there that can be setup to reboot? Something like "reboot every night @ 2am".... B/c that's probably what's going to be the fix for this. As well as the fix for every other "weird" thing that happens to a windows based phone.

Just a follow up to the scheduling app:
Autoflight works really well.
