Anyone else having this problem. I want to say I had this problem with my i600 as well, and I think after messing around with it it stopped doing it. But I've reset this phone to defaults a few times and synched and it works fine the first time, but synching after that takes several hours. I do have a lot of contacts (ie 3500) but like I said it was working fine with the i600.
Anyone have a suggestion??

It may definitely have to do with all the contacts and the data being sent back/forth. Remember, the architechture of the USB on this phone is probably not as fast/complex as some of the more PDA-based PPC phones.
I will say this, my XV-6700 would sync in about 20 seconds, whereas it takes a solid minute for my PN-820 to sync fully. I've got the same amount of data, so in my case I'd say the 820 is 1/3rd the pace on sync. It is probably just the nature of the phone.
I have several thousand contacts also and my phone syncs rather quickly. Are you also syncing email? That could be the real time burner. I know when I was syncing email with outlook it sucked and I didn't really need it so now it syncs pretty fast.
No I'm only synching contacts, nothing else. The thing that gets me is like I said before, when synching the first time after a wipe, it takes maybe 10-15 minutes and I don't have a problem with that. It's after it has been synched once before is when it takes so long. It really never completes since it takes so long I eventually just unplug the phone.

I'd suggest you entirely uninstall Outlook and reinstall it. However, you'll need to archive your data first so you can import it again. But that may not be the issue. Perhaps its something wrong with the USB port you are using. If possible, plug into a different USB port elsewhere to see if results change. Good luck!
how many computers does it show?
i had the same problem when i somehow got 2 computers names showing in the active sync. once i deleted one , it did the normal sync.
Are you running any other software on the phone other than what it came with? Somehow that might be interfering.
Like I said before, I have thousands and I believe my sync takes less than 5 minutes. How about moving files on the phone via the interface. Does it take a long time to copy a 500mb file? How long? Try it and let us know. That would say it is more of a cable/interface problem and you might need to hard reset the phone.
Just an update, the problem seems to have fixed itself much like what happened to the same problem with my i600. So no more problem but I still would have liked to know what it was and how it fixed itself.
Well on a similar tack, I updated to the latest office version and had all kinds of sync problems. I eventually had to reinstall outlook and activesync to get it all to work right, and I had to do it in that order.
Outlook, then boot then install activesync, wipe from phone and then sync. Things are back to normal and the new outlook is cool, but it did cause a problem.
I think something goes kablooey in the sync file process somehow and it just can't recover. I was experiencing terrible long sync times also, for no reason, especially when I had no changes on either end. So I guess that is the solution until we come up with something better.
