Question hmmm...Is this right for her?

So i am a 6700 user, but it is time for the wife to get a smartphone (tired of hearing..." I left my pda at work...my PDA is dead").

She likes the clam phones so when I so this we took interest.

I was really hoping for the mini usb link but by what i saw at the VZ store that is not the case...a few questions before I hit the upgrade button for her.

1. How are yah hooking these to the PC....I mean i looked at it and i see it can do A/S through BT but really yah arent upgrading OS's that way are you?

2. What is yahs standby time really like?

3. Does this phone really turn off?....meaning w/ my 6700 the phone really never turns off..it just goes into standby. To turn it off i have to pull the battery out..

4. Can she use the pda and not the phone...basically she gets no signal in work and it drains her batteries...I thought i saw a post whre yah have flight mode..meaning not searching..Is this correct?

TIA for the answers....If this works outs looking forward to talking to yah somemore soon.

Bud

1- Mine came with a USB cable. I use this and ActiveSync software to sync with Outlook. It also charges my phone overnight too.

2- I've got the extended life battery (VERY worthwhile) and it can go days/week or more with low-use and standby. On a heavy use day (lots of email, lots of online surfing, etc) i can still get hours and hours of heavy use in a single day with 40% or more power remaining. GEt the extended battery!

3/4 - Yes you can really turn the phone off. You can also put it in flight mode where it turns off all the cell/data access. This is nice if you are on a plane and need to use the PDA, or want to watch a movie or something saved. You can turn the phone on/off entirely with the power button. So it is your option... do you want to turn the phone off, or just the "phone function" off? Both work.

Good luck. It is a great phone. Not the best PDA nor best SmartPhone, but the only clamshell on the market right now in a SP option, and it does everything well, even if not stellar. Ciao!

Well she ended up getting hers for free!

So we will see...

All she realy needs is a phone and Calendar...LOL...oh and Contacts...other than that nothing else...I am sick of us not being on the same page about schedules and now with the little one starting B-ball it is really getting crazy w/ schedules. She needs soemthing that will tell her when and where...and she just doesnt carry a purse...all she carries is her keys and phone...so needed this....

I didnt see where a connection would be for a USB on the phone so that is what had me perplexed.

I will look into the battery...

How do you treat your battery? Full drain or frequent charge discharge? and how is it holding up?

Hey bud!!

I have a new 6800 that I got through insurance after I broke my 6700 that I had for almost 2 years. I love everything about my 6800. However, my NE2 contract was up so I decided to get the PN-820 since it was free. I figured, I could use it a week or so and switch back. Well that was a month ago or so and I am still using the 820. I love it. There are certainly disadvantages over the more powerful 6800 but with a few of the programs that I purchased for the 820, it's hard to beat now.....I agree with Shaka that the extended battery is going to be nice (getting it tomorrow). The standard battery is very slim and I expect that the extended battery will be flush with the back of this phone.

I have purchased Facade 1.4 (Launcher/Home Screen) and PdaNet for Window Mobile. I have the data package so I can connect my laptop now whereever I have a connection. I bought a cheap car charger and extra 110 charger off Ebay. I suggest going to the PN-820 WIKI page. Lots of nice suggestions there too (Main Page - Verizon Wireless PN-820 Wiki). Check out the freeware for Smartphone games too.

Sorry 'bout that. I fixed it. I put the parenthesis in the wrong spot. Now it works.
