Is the PN820 still being made?

Had to contact my phone insurance plan (Asurion, via Verizon), completed the claim for a replacement... only to be told that the PN820 is no longer being made. (So they are offering a Moto Q as the 'comparable model')

I don't particularly want a Q. And I see that VZ still sells the 820, so I'm suspicious as to the accuracy of what Asurion is telling me (although I have to say that the claim process was hassle-free up to this point).

So - is the model still being made?

Thanks

I think Asurion is feeding you a line because they don't have any refurb PN-820s. It's still an avilable item at my local Verizon store. I don't think that it's only old stock at this point.

I'm with you on not liking the Q, I had one for a day and got rid of it because of how Verizon has crippled it. At least with the PN820, you can fire up QPST and "fix" the tethering so that Verizon doesn't get to charge you twice for the same broadband service.

Well, I guess it is a moot point for me at the moment... after 2 days of dry time, my 820 returned to life.

Interesting though that this post was still on top of the forum... volume has REALLY dropped over the past few months.

I had an interesting thought. Nothing has happened to my pn-820, but if it did I would argue the that SMT-5800 would be the closest comparable replacement because it does not have an external keyboard. That is the reason I got a pn-820 over a Q.
Has anyone else tried to a warranty or insurance return lately?

I am looking at getting my wife the PN-820...She likes the clam shell model over the others....(6700 owner myself)...they are on their way out...we upgraded her online for 30 bucks...we went to the store first and they only had 2 left and stated they were not going to be getting anymore in...even more of a reason for the wife to get one now...since it wont last long w/ her clumsy self....and I agree...She hates the Q because of the keyboart...the 5800 would be more comparable...and less gaudy...
