I've got an old Palm m130 that ive had to replace as its effectively dead.
So I got a Tungsten W just recently as an end-of-line item, which was quite cheap.
This particular model is ideal as due to my work environment, I can't have a device with wireless, bluetooth or a camera built in.

So in terms of using it as a phone, I really would like to - but i'm not happy with the supplied bud earpiece.

Problem number 1 - tangles!

Problem number 2 is that the bud-type earphones don't seem to stay in my ear.

So the alternatives I'm looking for:

- Over-ear _retractable_ type headset/mic. Boom type preferred but options considered. I know theres bud type retractables, and I know theres boom type non retractables. Do they make a hybrid?

- A reference in another thread to a flip/cover with a speaker/mic interface. This is BY FAR my preferred option but I cant find any other hits for it online anywhere.

Hi. It has exist a flip/cover with a speaker/mic interface, made by Ternary Technologies.
Very difficult to find nowadays. But I found one, 3 monthes ago on Ebay.
Sound not as clear / loud as the headset but really easier to answer the phone.
But since I still wanted to use my hardcase, I sacrified the Ternary flip cover to adapt it to my hardcase (as you can see on the attached image).

Thats an impressive mod.. looks very well done.

Id like to track the leather case down, I searched on the vendors site and it links to an outfit with a local office, who show the product as discontinued.

I'll have to keep an eye on eBay, I guess. If anyone sees one come up would appreciate a headsup, likewise if anyone knows of one for sale (anywhere in the world pretty much) ..

The subject cards were made, I have one (along with Terenary cover) for sale

Does anyone know where I could get the flip cover to answer the phone? I've actually lost the wire which I didn't like very much anyway, and this sounds like an ideal solution.

I'm also looking for a replacement back housing. The door that holds the sim card in place has broken and I've been using tape to hold it in place, but now it's not making contact.

Basically I really like the Tungsten W, but it should be more rugged, and the support from Palm was a disappointment.

I have an T|W (locked to AT&T unfortunately. I have the Ternary Phone cover with out hard case. But I also have Bluetooth SDIO card and all the accessories that go with T|W. Would like to sell all but willing to part out. All items relatively new. Send PM to me.
