Help

I purchased a Tungsten W and love it. However, it says that I need a sim card to make the phone work and the internet work. Well I am completely ignorant when it comes to this. Can someone please tell me where I can buy a sim card for att and what to expect next?

A SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) is a chip you buy from the cellular carrier who provides you with service.

No tickee, no washee - gotta have it.

Buy it at the Cingular store when you set up your account, or have them snail one to you if you set up your account by phone or over the wire...

that is, if there isn't one already in the phone. Have you checked under the door on the back to see if it's empty, or if there's a card there?

Then you will have to find a GSM cellular carrier.

Cingular is your best bet, since (unless your phone was represented as being 'unlocked' by the seller), it probably only works with Cingular (who bought ATTWS, the US carrier that cut the original deal with Palm).

IF the phone is unlocked (and there's no way to tell without truying a SIM card), then it might work with other carriers. Forex, I bought mine from a Canadian customer of Rogers, which sold the W unlocked. I put a T-Mobile SIM card in it at the T-Mobile store, and it worked.. so I signed up with T-Mobile and got a data-only account with unlimited upload/download and 500 SMS/month.

But, first you must
find a GSM carrier.
