Will Sprint activate a PRE on a SERO account?

I heard a rumor that they make you open on everything account. Can anyone confirm?

Also, is there any way to tether a PRE?

Sprint will not activate the Palm Pre on the SERO Plan! You'll have purchase the "Simply Everything" Plan! It sucks that dedicated customers like us can't use it on our nice SERO plans!

Actually, I poked around on the Sprint site a bit, and found that the "Everything Family Plan with Data 1500" wouldn't be too much more expensive than my three SERO plans (me, wife and step-son) and I don't think we have EVER exceeded 1500 anytime minutes together.

The fine print in the Pre plans is they have to cost more than $39, so a case could be made for converting my $30 SERO to a 1250 minute $50 SERO and using that. I would expect them to argue about that option though.

Just my two cents but Sprint is doing the Pre just like the Instinct when it initially released. You have to change to the 1500 minute talk/data share to activate it.

Cheers!!

Just FYI to anyone ditching their SERO plans for the Palm Pre, I would be willing to take on a 500 minute SERO plan through a transfer of liability form and pay some cash for it. Just let me know via PM if anyone is interested.

You can do that? I'd think that since Sprint is obviously trying to dump SERO as a bad idea (which from their standpoint, it is) that they wouldn’t entertain such a notion.

Yup, just do some research on Sprint SERO and TOL (Transfer of Liability). Tons of people do it. People even sell their grandfathered in SERO plans on Ebay (though for a helluva lot more than most people give them away for on forums like wirelessadviser, etc.)

Hmm...I would have to find out. If we were to do such a swap I believe this is how it would work:

1.) You would get your other service all set up and ready
2.) You have them transfer your phone number from your SERO account to your new service and put a random number on the SERO account.
3.) I sign up for an account with sprint
4.) We would conference call with sprint, do the TOL (this would effectively put your plan and number on my account.)
5.) I have my number ported from Verizon over to the SERO account.

I am pretty sure this is how it would work if you wanted to keep the number.
