Two different Sprint stores have told me that the Palm Pre micro USB port is proprietary to Palm and use of any other adapters or micro USB chargers other than those made by Palm will result in the phone shorting out. This sounds like a line to me as the new industry standard agreed upon in April, 2009 is micro USB charging. Before I try this out on my new Pre, does anyone here have any inputon this ?
Thanks

Well I can tell you this. For the initial charge, I had to use the Palm adapter to get it to charge. I initially plugged it into one of my moto chargers and it just sat there at 40%, although the indicator said it was charging. I left it on there for hours. Then I pulled the Palm charger out of the box and plugged in the pre and it charged up fairly rapidly. Now.....after that initial charge I am able to plug it into either my pc or other chargers and it charges. Go figure right?
Cheers!!
