Handspring announced that the Treo 300 has captured the Computer Reseller News, Best New Product of 2002 award. Competing in the handheld PC category against it were the Toshiba e740, Sony CLIE PEG-NX70V, ViewSonic V35, RIM Blackberry 6710, and HP iPaq 5450. Of note here is that the majority of these products have integrated wireless communications.
On a totally off the topic point... you have to hand it to Sony for coming up with strange product names. I guess they make up for not having many letters in their company name, by coming up with product names like this one. Back to the topic. Computer Reseller News is focused on aspects of a product that make it valuable to a reseller. In a link off of the award page, you will find a CRN article about the use of Treo 300 in vertical markets.
"A well-designed handheld/phone hybrid that operates on the Palm OS, the Treo 300 has a bright color display, 16 Mbytes of memory and an easy-to-use built-in thumb keyboard. The 300 model is smaller than an average PDA and a bit larger than a typical cell phone. The Treo uses a single slot for syncing to a host PC and recharging, and it has an impressive battery life."
