SnapperMail 2 is Released!

Probably one of the most heavily used applications on a pdaPhone is the email client. One of the most popular add-on email applications for the Palm platform is SnapperMail. I used this for several months on my Treo 600 and found it to be very well done.

After nine months of development and a three month public beta, SnapperFish has announced the release of SnapperMail 2. This new release has a lot of improvements including:
  • 4 Editions to Meet Each User's Needs
  • Improved User Interface
  • Support for IMAP
  • No Storage Limit
  • Includes SplashPhoto4
Read more details in the full thread, or go to SnapperMail.com for more information.

Press Release

SNAPPERFISH INTRODUCES ENTERPRISE-ORIENTED VERSION OF E-MAIL CLIENT FOR PALM OS SMARTPHONES

SnapperMail Version 2.0 now available with IMAP4 support for standard enterprise e-mail systems

AUCKLAND, New Zealand (August 26, 2004) -- Snapperfish Limited today announced the immediate availability of SnapperMail Version 2.0 for Palm Powered handhelds and smartphones. The Enterprise Edition of SnapperMail now includes support for retrieving and synchronizing e-mail with standard enterprise groupware e-mail servers such as Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino and Notes, and Novell Groupwise. SnapperMail has also introduced the access to Ghost™ messages; messages which have been deleted on the mail server, but can be preserved on the device or even archived to a memory storage card for immediate access to years of messages at any time.

SnapperMail version 2.0 features a number of new usability enhancements and is now available in four editions to meet the varying needs of mobile customers. There is a Lite version - featuring a single combined inbox, a Standard version — which adds automatic mail retrieval and account to folder segregation, a Premier version — including FIPs-compliant Certicom SSL security and memory card message storage, and the new Enterprise edition — which adds IMAP4 corporate e-mail protocol support. All editions of SnapperMail include a starter-pack of attachment handling applications including support for Zip archives, Jpeg photos, and sending handwritten notes. Premier and Enterprise 2.0 editions gain SplashPhoto4 (handheld version), the best selling photo viewer for Palm OS.

"There has been an incredible rise in the interest in converged devices like the palmOne Treo 600 in the past year," said Will Lau, Managing Director for Snapperfish. "SnapperMail has been developed specifically for these devices, and we are proud to be lauded for helping to make these smartphones a viable alternative to bulky laptops for so many mobile workers. Tens of thousands of customers downloaded SnapperMail during our public beta, which is indicative of the immense interest our IMAP4 version has generated."

Along with the IMAP4 support in SnapperMail Enterprise Edition are additional features that allow customers to browse their remote corporate mail folders, set up and sync to an unlimited number of folders and subfolders on their device and even provides for synchronizing messages based on size, date, and other variables and automatic deletion of old messages.

All SnapperMail version 2.0 users benefit from a freshened user interface with new message status icons indicating new, read, forwarded, replied, and flagged status. Folder hierarchies are clearly seen in the new folder dropdown menu, and messages can now be selected discontinuously for deletion or other actions. Attachment support has also been enhanced, allowing native files to be attached from other applications without ever leaving the message composer. With this enhanced support, customers can now attach photos directly from built-in applications like the palmOne Treo 600’s camera application.

Pricing and Availability
SnapperMail Version 2.0 is available in four editions to suit the specific needs of users and is available as a free trial via electronic download from the SnapperMail Web site at www.snappermail.com. Pricing for SnapperMail Lite, Standard, Premier, and Enterprise is $29.95, $39.95, $49.95, and $59.95 respectively.

help

I was looking at th screen shots that are posted. I was wondering how can i get to the feature that lets me create more folders. For example, when i go into snappermail, at the top on the left hand side, it says local folder, how can i change that to say "work" like it says in the screen shot. Also, how can i get those icons next to my folders, and create a folder inside of a folder. If im confusing anyone, just look at the screen shot above this post (the first screen shot) and you will see what i mean. Thanks.

So it says "new"...you click on that and edit it to what you want to call it...like you said "work" and then you have a folder that it called work.
