The rumor-of-the-week is that Verizon Wireless will be carrying the Treo 600. There are a lot of people hoping this rumor pans out. It is a commonly heard opinion among pdaPhone enthusiasts that Verizon Wireless needs more than one pdaPhone that uses the Palm operating system. (Currently the only Palm choice available from Verizon Wireless is the Kyocera 7135.)
So far as we can determine, Verizon Wireless has not made any official announcement they will be carrying the Treo 600. However, on Monday, April 12th there appeared on the Verizon Wireless web site a statement “Coming soon: Treo 600”. That statement was clickable, however when you clicked on it, it took you to a page that said something to the effect that the page was no longer available, and by the next day, the announcement on the Verizon Wireless web site was gone.
Those are the facts as we know them. A lot of pda-related web sites have started running news announcements that Verizon Wireless will be carrying the Treo 600 and at least one pdaPhoneHome user has indicated that a Verizon Wireless employee indicated in a conversation with him that “Verizon Wireless will be releasing the Treo 600 in less than 3 months”.
So there you have it. You can make of it what you will, but until such time as we see an official announcement from Verizon Wireless, I'm holding steady. We’ll keep you posted as more information becomes available.
