I have had Centro for about a month now(first smart phone; fell in love in with my mother's treo so I decided to get this.) and I absolutely love it.

A problem I have been repeatedly getting is that every single(every single one of them)hotsync has one specific error in the log. It says it could not back up the "PmTraceDatabase"
When I further look into it, it says "Protocol error handheld file could not be opened.(4004)
Then further says "SYNCERR_FILE_NOT_OPEN"
IS this important or should I completely forget this?

(Performance is not affected at all while using the centro. Or so I think since it has been like this from start.)

I get this error too. If you search the Palm "Knowledgebase", they acknowledge the problem, but offer up no solutions.

Their answer is basically 'no harm no foul'.

They basically say "we don't know why this happens to some people, but it is safe to ignore"

Other people have used a utility like Filez to deselect the 'backup' bit of the offending file.

Wow, I don't know what that is. I assume you have tried a soft reset? Maybe a full back up then hard reset would help.

I am unsure of the cause, but on two Centros now that were exhibiting this annoying behavior, I just popped the battery out and back in. After everything was back up and initialized and performed a hotsync. No error!
