I've tried some LG headphones and also using the adapter w/ various other headphones... none of this works as well. I want a set that works though!!!
We did discover if you only plug the jack in part way it was in stereo, but that sucks.

Has anyone tried the Sprint headphones?

Any update on this? I, too, am a bit dismayed that standard 2.5mm stereo headsets that work with any other phone do not seem to work with the centro. It's bad enough that Palm does not use a mini usb connnector for hot syncing, but now we have to buy their headphones too?

Update - some further searching indicates that this is a Palm "feature." The headphones need to present a certain impedance to the Centro otherwsie the phone will only send mono to avoid blowing out a microphone on a single ear piece headset. Solutions are: trial end error, buy a Palm headset, or a Seido adapter device that corrects the impedance.

The problem with the Palm centro is that the jack is too close the hotsync port. What I had to do shave off some of the plug to let my headphones sit all the into the socket. This is the reason you have a mono sound the plug is sticking out and not making full contact in the socket.

I read all the problems people are having, so I just bought the Palm 2 in 1 Headset Pro. It works well. They have a cheaper version too. I just ordered their adapter for other connections, but have not tried it yet.

Palm Store - Audio: Headphones: PalmŪ 2 in 1 Stereo Headset Pro

6/24/08 - the Palm adapter works great too.

Not all 2.5 connectors are the same. I got a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter at radio shack and it did not work at all. The spacing on the bands on the 2.5 is different. Will be ordering from Palm.

I prefer this simple reliability to Bluetooth headsets. My first one shipped with my 700p and I ordered another one after I lost the first.
