Centro for $129...without a new line

today i was at best buy just browsing, checking out the phones they had and was messing around with the centro when i realized that there was an offer to get the centro for 129 just by resigning a 2 year contract. i know that it's been less than two years since i resigned a contract, and i actually activated a new phone on their system 3 months ago, but i went and checked with the best buy mobile representative and she said i was eligible for the rebate (only problem was that they were out of stock). this rebate, according to her, is not through sprint so there is no chance they will mess up and end up charging you.

anyway, if you are a sprint customer and have a best buy near you and want to get the centro but dont feel like getting a second line, go there and check that offer out and see if you qualify. pretty good considering its only a 30 dollar premium over a new line.

seems like it...whats amazing is that i'm pretty sure i changed my contract around completely in February, which should make me ineligible. But as long as best buy says i'm eligible and it's an instant rebate...i dont care.

ok got the phone...140 after taxes plus what seems to be an 18 dollar equipment upgrade charge (haven't seen it on the sprint website yet though).

not a bad deal for just signing up for another two years...

How does $14 & change sound?

So I was thinking about a Centro and sent an email to Sprint Ecare to see what they could do. They advised they would place a $100 credit on my account if I activated a Centro on one of my lines. I figure what the heck and head to the Sprint store to check one out.

After playing with it for a couple minutes, I go for it. Rep says there's new pricing on the Centro, $399 - $100 instant savings - $150 activation savings - $50 mail in rebate = $99. Email Ecare, they apply the $100 Credit AND an additional $30 credit to offset the $26 activation fee. So I got my Centro for the sales tax, just over $14.

I love Sprint!

man how did you pull that off? they just gave you discounts left and right and you didn't have to get another line?

when was the last time you upgraded your device, out of curiosity?

The Best Buy's in my area (MN) don't carry the Centro. Also, I'm not eligible for the phone upgrade discount for another 18 mo. Any idea how I can get this phone for less than $150??

Thanks,
John

I found a review that states the Processor is the same (Intel x312Mhz) as the Treo 755. Anyone know if it takes the same battery as the Treo 650? Aside from the smaller size, SD card placement & on board memory is there any difference between the Centro and 755p? Naturally I would like to have the 128MB of RAM offered in the 755p versus the 64MB offered in the Centro. However I will be upgrading from a Treo 650 and my greatest contention with it stemmed from the SD card placement and 24MB RAM allocation.

I have a few apps and do lots of email/web/pictures and havent run into a memory issue yet. the batteries wont fit because the centro has a tiny one, sort of like a blackberry 8700.
