Clearing voicemail indicator

I got a Palm Centro recently because I'd run out of options with my late, lamented Kyocera 7135 and the VZW store was out of Treo 755s. This one has developed a problem which, from a Google search, appears to be a common problem. My phone is displaying a voicemail indicator even though there is no VM waiting to be heard. It looks like an envelope; however, if I touch it with the stylus, the phone dials the voicemail number. There's nothing under phone preferences or phone display preferences or any other preferences giving me the option to clear the VM icon (even the 7135 gave me that option); cycling power to the phone so it has to reconnect to the net does not clear the icon.

How do you get rid of that bogus icon?

Thanks,

KM

That's where I would have expected to find one; and in fact, I looked there more than once (what's that old saying about insanity?). No such option. And I have a Verizon (VZW) phone. I don't know if that makes a difference.

Sprint has a button there, Verizon doesn't. I have used this method.
Leave myself a message. Retrieve it. Indicator clears. YMMV
