I just got a Palm Centro on Verizon, and this is my first smartphone. I opted not to get the expensive data plan, as I don't have a need to access the internet from my phone frequently. I upgraded from an LG VX8700. One thing I liked about that phone is the ability to use the "secret menu" and set it to connect to Verizon's 1x network for a free (but slower) data connection, only using airtime, and tethering it to my computer. Is there a way to configure the Centro to do this? I have found the Network configuration under the Prefs app, but I can't figure out how to force it to connect to 1x.

Also, is there a way to set it to connect to a regular dialup ISP, either for a data connection on my phone or for tethering to my computer?
