We started the Jornada forum and there is actually a portal page like the other pdaPhones that has been developed, but the gentleman that was helping me with it bailed out. If you have some time to help out with getting the Jornada portion of the site going, let me know!
Hi. I am a HP Jornada 928 owner/user.
In general I am satisfied with the product. On the plus side it really is one of the few composite units for GSM voice and data communication which is microsoft outlook etc compliant on the market. Even though it was withdrawn after the compaq merger presumable considering that the as yet not voice enabled ipaq would have more customer appeal. FYI, I bought mine thru vodaphone on the UK about 9 months ago.
On the downside, the battery life is low and I have got around this by buying a second charger, one for office and one for home. No extra batteries available that I can find and no out of unit charging available.
The second shortfall is the microphone quality as other partys oftern comment on poor voice quality.
Overall though its a good machine from whats available now. I just cant wait for the Siemens Fujitsu Loox to come out with a similar integrated GSM unit, or for the Sendo Z100 to re-emerge being a phone with microsoft outlook compliancy PDA functions, rather than being a PDA with phone functions.
Comments??
I just made a holder for my 928 out of perspex. it now slots into the dash of my van, just under the sterio, I have a lead for the headphone jack to plug it into the sterio.
Now I have tomtom gps coming through the speakers, and it works amazingly well as a speakerphone!!!
The downside is that whilst tomtom is running, the operating system has real trouble forcing the phone part onto the screen and speaker.....
But if I notice it trying to gain control I just hit the top green phone button and its GREAT!
Shame about the battery life, but it charges up realy quickly when connected to the tomtom lead.

LIFE - natures way of keeping meat fresh
Hi - I love my Jornada 928 but have 2 problems - one you can no doubt guess "How do I get hold of a spare battery?"
The other relate sto settign it up for internet/email access. If anyone can offer any advice on establishing this, I would really appreciate it. My phone service is with Orange and it works just fine (though originally it was on Vodafone and the vodafone names pops up automatically before the Orange signal is found)
Thanks PeteW
Pete. Glad you enjoy your HP Jornada.
Unfortunately because of the battery problems and poor voice quality I ditched mine over 1.5 years ago. I managed to sell to a friend. I have since gone with O2 XDAII which is truly excellent, however I can see that at half the price of an XDAII, old stock 928s are good value. My advice. find a technology challenged friend and sell him your 928 as a learning tools and upgrade straight to the XDAIIs regardless of the cost. Good luck. RB
