I just got one for my wife as her first "smartphone" and it is replacing her ancient Motorola V557. So far, it is all that it is cracked up to be - fast, loud, reliable, and the slider keyboards are top-notch. She really wanted something to be able to text with, and wanted a QWERTY keyboard, and on AT&T that limited her options. So... hence, the Pantech Duo. She is very pleased so far, but it has only been a week... we shall see what she thinks in another week or two. She did take it on a business trip to Vegas earlier this week and said it worked great, so that is a plus!

I just got the phone for my wife, too. It's a good form factor and nice starter for non-techies. So far my two biggest complaints are that the keyboard keys have no raised profile at all which is incredibly uncomfortable to use (think angled fingertips or nails) and the central navigation d-pad (circle in this case) is also really annoying. There's nothing to tell you when you're over each direction and the size is a problem too.

My wife has really taken to her Pantech Duo. I think her only complaints are typical of most WM users - no repeating alerts for missed voice mail or texts, a bit of a lag in typing and displaying what was typed, and some random hesitation when too many things are in memory. But overall she is very pleased with it, keeping in mind that she is NOT a power user doing email or web browsing, and she has no third-party software at all.
