Is the MPX220 worth a try?

I have an MPX200 and would like to upgrade. It seems the 220 is discontinued, but it has all of the specs I would like. I need a windows based phone and like all of the toys, but at the same time I don't want a brick of a PDA for my phone. If I buy from ebay am I just going to end up with a phone that lasts 3 months? Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks!

Buy a new phone. The MPx220's time has come and gone. There are much better smartphones out there now.

I say go for it. I bought one from a ebay seller a about 3 weeks ago and have not had any problems with it. The only thing I noticed was the RF is not as good as some of the newer phones (Cingular 2125 AND 8125) at least on Cingular's network in my area. There's not a big difference but there is a difference.

Late to the party on this...

I had the MPx200, loved it. Cingular bought AT&T and my wife needed a new phone so I was forced to move to the MPx220. I hate that Motorola pulled the usb connector and put in their stupid Moto connector! I loved using the mini-usb cable to charge from anywhere, car/wall/computer with a $5 adapter. The Moto interface has already puked and I can only charge through the data cable. The other thing is that they switched the SD slot to a Mini-SD, another pain in the butt. I had to invest in a MiniSD card. Oh, and the "normal" MPx220 is silver, I prefered the black.

That said, my screen has wear and I've dropped this thing countless times, so it doesn't look great but works great. I just bought a MPx220 Black on e-Bay to make the silver my backup.

For me there isn't anythin even close to the form factor of this phone that is the Windows SmartPhone. I've had the PDA phone thing - practically useless. It was a Siemens SX56, essentially MS slapped on the phone software and did some minor tweaks. But really it was a PDA first and a Phone 9th. Horrible reception, battery life, contact management connected to the phone. Cingular has a fliphone with more modern conveniences and might be worth looking at, but yesterday Apple introduced the iPhone.

All bets are off when Apple adds a flash slot. I've already got my $599 ready to go in June.

Lost my mpx220, Cingular sent me 2125 as a replacement. It was fine except wasn't flip - I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want a flip phone.
I just upgraded to the Cingular 3125 (flip), canceled my insurance and am using the 2125 as a backup. No complaints so far.....

I think it's worth a try. I mean all those horror stories are just stories. How would you ever experience it if you don't have one. I upgrade from mpx200 as well and I love my 220. I recently upgraded again because I got a good deal on a ppc phone. I don't recommend ebay unless that's your only option. I did buy my 200 from ebay but got my 220 from someone who have upgraded and didn't need the phone anymore. Howards Forum have a section where people buy/sell/trade. Do a search over their and you'll fine many who wants to get rid of it for less than 70. Good luck. Oh yeah. READ their "scam" thread as well so you will know how to avoid getting scam.
