After setting up the System Update program and the driver, the program tries to download update from Internet but tells me the phone already has the latest software. When I check my Manufacturer software version, it is 1.280.0.0, which is not the newest Manufacturer software version stated on Motorola update website. The newest version should be 1.430. Does anyone know why it would say I have the newest software version? Help please!!!

... well just a guess ... but the 1.43 ROM update is applicable only for MPx220 phones purchased in North America ... if you bought the phone off an internet dealer ...

Check the other software versions on the phone:

I have just talked to US Motorola support. They said the Update Tool from US site is made only for Cingular and T-Mobile handset. If the phone is build for other regions (most likely what mine is), the US update tool won't work. He also mentioned Asia and Europe are both supported by Europe support site. So they might share the same Update Tool. But the Update Tool I downloaded from Hong Kong also tells me my phone has the newest Rom version. The UK site says the Update Tool is coming soon. So I guess I am out of lock for now and stuck with the light ringtone and sound problem.

Regardless of which region the phone I bought is for, I think it's just really stupid for Motorola to come out with a phone that has such light sound. Don't their quality control know that it's a cell phone and it's supposed to be loud so people on the road can hear???

Still my problem continues, any help is appreciated.
