Hi, if you haven't figured it out already, go to Start, Settings, More, Regional Settings, then select "US English" or whatever.

By the way, I think I bought the same phone as you, a Black mpx220 for some German speaking market. I'm a little disappointed. Seems to work ok, but I suspect there are some little differences.

what if you can't READ that language?

My MPx220 phone came in Chinese or Japanese or something and I cannot READ that language. How is one supposed to navigate to that menu when it's all giberish?

double byte characters?

Well ... be prepared that your phone may not have the correct english support language on it ... ... you may have no other recourse but to flash the phone with a US Enlish version
and update the ROM. That would be your risk ... as in doing so may render the phone unusable ...

As previously advised , the way to change the language settings:
Start, Settings, More, Regional Settings

Can't read Japanese\Chinese? Well take a guess ... an US English phone (by default) would be Start, then the 8th item down (press 8 on your keypad), then 9 (this is the ninth item on the list or 9 More ...) and Regional Settings is 6.
The first setting at the top is one change ...use the < and the > to navigate to US English. The second setting is for the locale. If you can't see English (United States) in the list, well then ...

good luck.
