I was at the cingular store yesterday (10-22-05) and I saw the mpx 220 was back on display. Anyone know if they have corrected the problems this phone has had in the past? If you have a new mpx 220, please let me know what you think.

I got the new mpx220 as well and yes Moto has fixed the bugs..
Oh well. I have a smt5600 that I really like. But i also like the looks of the moto mpx220. Looks like i'll be adding another phone to my collection. Let me know how the 220 works for you.
so far so good with my new updated firmware mpx220. have not much to complain lately since i got it from moto under special supervision from cingular.................
my very first mpx220 i had no luck at all and upgrading that phone to the newest firmware just made it all worst...
somehow the ones that moto upgraded works well....
so i would imagine that the phone showing up on cingular's shelves once again tells me that moto has done a good deal of fixing....
They have a few different firmware versions now. Most people like the Asian version they have out. I have the latest 1.49 version. Version .345 seems to be trouble free also. The phone has come a long way. I love it!! I stand behind it 100%.
So wait, I'm confused. For those of us with Mpx220s, is there now a new version of firmware available and if so, where do I get it? Just go to the Motorola site?
I've got 1.43 already, having done the upgrade online several months back. This is just the first I'd heard there was now a newer version. I've been very happy with pretty much everything about the phone since the upgrade, so I wouldn't want to make any further changes until I knew what benefits the newer version would provide.
Well. Not really any benefits that I notice. Before the upgrade, I used to have problems with it just going on a vibrating-tantrum for no reason at all. The sound is no different from 1.43 from what I can tell. The speakerphone may be "slightly" louder. But thats relative.
I recently, and finally, got a working unlock code for my motorola mpx220. I will be willing to give it to anyone for a very small fee ($10) instead of the $60-$100 the online companies charge. email me at mpx220unlock@yahoo.com.
The unlock codes are unique to each MPx220. There is no universal code. Unless you have a code generator of some sort. Sorry to kill your business move man.
are you sure the code is unique? I didnt give cingular any specific info about the phone and they sent me a code. I actually have two of them that I got at the same time under the same name so im not really sure how the code could be unique. is there something I am missing?
They may have given you a PUK code or something like that. In order to obtain an unlock code they have to have your IMEI Number which is like a Social Security Number for you phone. Did you use the code and actually unlock a phone that was previously locked?
I did unlock my phone which was previously locked. I believe that the code was an unlock code and not a PUK code. Is that code not given by the new service provider?
