How are my 1.43 firmware update Beta Testers doing today?

How are my new non-official Cingular 1.43 (?) firmware upgrade release Beta Testers doing today?

Hope everyone is having fun and no problems with the new un-official release firmware.

Let us know your findings here. Let's all discuss all our findings in this thread how about that?

1) So far, I like the volume increase on my pmx220. This is one problem that I had before the update.

2) Before the update, when I take off the battery, my time and date will always reset and get screwed up. Now after the update, when I take the battery off, and put it back on, my time and date are still ok.

Although my friend who also has an mpx220 does not have this problem even before the update.

Let's hear from you all....

Send a message via AIM to ThaMATRiX

Havent noticed too many major changes that I care at all about.
The volume is a big change which I have noticed (I can now talk on the phone on a public bus)

I'm still waiting for them to replace the MS Bluetooth stack, thats the only major thing this phone is lacking... I just want voice dialing, possibly bt headset to connect faster... thats about it.

I thought i'd post this here also...

well, the only real effect i noticed that i really care about is the volume.

the only problem is that the volume is louder alright but the quality of the voice also suffered (in my case).. dont know about the rest..

also the external lcd orients itself correctly now when you flip it open and close. while before the update, it remained the same orientation. i thought this was cool..

it also seem faster (i think maybe just now coz its still empty) hehehe...

so far, i took out the paper fix that we put in the battery so the phone wont turn off by itself when closed and so far, it has not turned off on me no matter how hard i close the phone. i thought this was also a good thing. it tells me now that it was never a mechanical issue before.

i also noticed now that the "back" button works the way it should.

so far, these are what i noticed...

RE: 1.43 firmware update

I installed it and I'm up & running.

Volume on rings and the phone are much better. Also, voice quality is much better. Noticable improvement in batt life as well.

I'm having problems getting the BT Serial Port functionality working with my Powerbook however. Still can't get that to work.

When I use the "BT SerialPort Setup" app and check the box for the Outbound COM port it checks the box but when I come back in to the app the box is unchecked.

Needless to say when I attempt to use the connection my Powerbook reports that it cannot connect because of a "crossed connection". When I look at the connection log it indicates that the BT serial connection is in a loopback state.

Trying Cingular and Motorola at this point.

www.alienhq.com <-- old domain i had laying around, but the files are there. Have fun.

Here u go man.. courtesy of Paul B (ThaMatrix)..

Take note however that this is still NOT the official Cingular update.

Although I said before that I was going to wait for the official release, I was not able to resist the temptation.

I also remember both Mr. Moderator ppcmd and ThaMatrix say that they were going to wait for the official release as well but I guess just like the rest of the mpx220 world, they too cant resist.

YESSSSSSSSSSSS.. Back up everything that you do not want to loose because you will loose everything once you do the update.

I recommend to do the update. Somehow, I am a much happier mpx220 owner. I have yet to see the same issues I had before the update.

have fun...

Re: RE: 1.43 firmware update

UPDATE:

I've gotten BT to work with my Powerbook. I found a generic Motorola script that will work with my Powerbook and BT.

I can use the Moto MPx220 as an external wireless modem now with my Powerbook.

I will post info on my weblog on how to do this:
www.mwakefield.com/blogger.html

Info should be up there within a week.
