Internet through Bluetooth?

Hello there.
I live in a fairly small apt and I have a wireless 802.11b network with one PC directly conected to the router and one laptop using the wireless signal, with DSL.

I was wondering if (since the mpx220 did not come with Wi-Fi) if I could access and use the DSL Internet through my phone using bluetooth? so I can access the internet from any point in the apartment?

Maybe im dreaming but is this possible?

And if it is, what would be the range of the Bluetooth signal? 20-30 feet away?

It's possible. Your laptop would need to have a bluetooth adapter, you'd need to get your phone to be able to use Activesync via bluetooth, and finally you'd have to setup internet pass through between the phone and the laptop (via Activesync over bluetooth).

Im thinking of getting a usb bluetooth adapter for the desktop computer. There are some that are 100M, 300+ feet range.

What im planning to do is share the internet connection on the destop and pick it up from the phone using the usb bluetooth adapter.

I know is not going to be DSL speed (700K) but at least is more than a 56k (dial-up) speed.

I'm just being a smart ass.. But how fairly small an apartment are we talking about here??

Are we talking about a studio type? or a fairly small one bedroom apt??

Well, I can see why you would want to use your mpx220 to surf the net (in a fairly small apt)...

At times when I am doing the #2 (the poop one not the #1) and I'm just there staring at my ugly painted wall waiting for who knows how long, I too long and have the urge to surf the net and I'm glad I have the mpx220...

Or at times when I am just toooo lazy to flip the switch on either my laptop or my Ipaq or my Desktop, my handy mpx220 is there.. hehehehe...

Mooker do you have access to the internet with your MPX220? if so what speed are you getting?
How?

Also a particular question: do you check the receipt after you clean yourself when doing the #2? or you just pay the bill?

I have tried to use activesync through bluetooth now given that I have a usb bluetooth adapter but when I try to connect (my computer recognizes de phone though and viceversa) I get the message: unable to connect, verify your dialup or proxy settings are correct and try again. I have no connections in my proxy or dial up.
What seems to be the problem?

Usually when people have trouble getting ActiveSync to work with Bluetooth, it's because of miss matched COM ports. The Bluetooth adapter and Activesync have to be using the same COM port for it to work.

Check the com port that shows in ActiveSync via: File -> Connection settings... Be sure "Allow serial connection or IR to this Com port" is checked. Make sure the COM port in Active Sync matches the COM used by your Bluetooth adapter (ie. have both use COM3).

In case that fails, here is a link to a more comprehensive set of intructions for this.
