Get an MPx200 at Amazon!

OK, I can vouch for Amazon as a great place to get pdaPhones, having bought two from them myself. Here is a link to where you can buy it, and also support the site in the process.... Enjoy, and thanks!

Buy MPx200 HERE!

Converginator

I saw that offer on Amazon and I so I'm looking it over and then I walked into the AT&T Wireless store of Downtown Washington, DC looked over the phone MPx200 and asked a couple of questions and here I just want you and every other reader here on this forum to see what took place:

AT&T Guy: How are you today sir?

BC: Great I'm looking for the MPx200 know where it is?

AT&T Guy: Right over there on the stand can I help you with something?

BC: Naw I wanted to see how small it was before I ordered it online today.

AT&T Guy: From whom?

BC: Amazon.com I get some pretty great rebates. (I explained them to him)

AT&T Guy: Naw you don't want to do that, because you will have to wait and then online stuff is not guaranteed to work.

BC: So what you do about my deal that I’m getting with Amazon.com?

AT&T Guy: Listen print everything out and comeback, and see me and I will beat that PRICE!!!

BC: Ok I'll see you in one week then.
****************************************************

Sooooooooooo

I just wanted to share what is going on with the Amazon and AT&T thing while it is happening hopefully give some insight for more price cuts on this phone maybe even make it free after rebates.

But I’ll post an update next Saturday after I receive my phone and let this AT&T Guy play his role.

It is pretty common to get price matches in some of the stores. You might have to try a couple to get it, but it is common.

I will also tell you that he is wrong about Amazon. They are a great company to buy a phone from... I've done it twice. In the case of some carriers, they actually give you a LONGER evaluation period than if you bought it from the carrier directly. With the T-Mobile phone I bought from them last year, they gave you a 30 day return policy with no penalty. And, from the moment they shipped the phone, I could deal directly with T-Mobile as if I had bought it from them. I saved a lot of money at the time. They were late shipping the phone and gave me a $50 discount and free overnight shipping because of it... can't beat that.

ok, I'm thinking of buying one on amazon (through your link, of course) but I cant find out if the phone will be locked or not.
Should I assume that if I buy it without activation, that it will be unlocked?

Or can I assume that even if I buy it with activation, that it will still come unlocked? (Since amazon offers a $120 rebate with activiation, if I can find a plan where it costs me less than $120 before I can cancel it legally, it is a great deal... unless the phone is locked, of course)...

I'm not sure I follow your thinking here... I don't think Amazon will sell it WITHOUT activation, so you will be forced to sign up with AT&T to get this deal. How is finding a plan for less than $120 going to avoid that? My guess is there are also guidelines with the rebate that require you to be with AT&T for some period of time, but I could be wrong on that.

The locked/unlocked nature of the MPx200 is what it is... Amazon isn't doing anything different on that. Check through the forum here for info further info.

I see.
I havent bought a phone on amazon previously, but I didnt see anything there that said I HAD to buy activation with the phone. And that is reasonable to me, since I might already have a plan with a carrier and so wouldnt need activation.

But since we've come to this question, I wonder if anybody has done any type of analysis as to which plan/carrier is the cheapest to go with (in terms on monthly payment & minimum time before cancellation allowed) in case you dont actually plan to use that carrier. I guess that would be useful for alot of people... perhaps I'll do it a bit (if someone hasnt done it yet or if the choice isnt obvious...)

Not sure if this helps anyone decide, but I got my MPx200 from best buy for 49 dollars after rebates, and it came unlocked.

I have been able to install a few apps but nothing too spectacular.

I tried to install something that was from the site for the SPV?? Not familiar with that, but the app installed ok, and then when I set it up (it was a VNC app) and tried to connect, it just exited and did nothing??

Any idea why that might be? Do the SPV phones have a different smartphone OS that might cause the apps to not run on the MPx200?

thanks!

I don't want to be rude, but is there a reason why this is still stickied? The link in the first post does'nt even work (probably because no one sells mpx200 anymore. Perhaps it would be time to make a new thread about the 220 or something...
