I have an MPx that runs on Cingular and I have never had a problem. First off, I would call Cingular and make sure that your
SIM card is valid. After that, you want to make sure that the broadcast spectrums that Cingular uses in your area are compatible with those that the MPx are set to receive (Mine is the Asian version and therefore runs on GSM900 GSM1800 and GSM1900). Next, since you have the March ROM installed (that's the ROM you want), make sure you have the OS updated.
My bootloader says:
2.0521.0409-SR
If you have checked and done all of the above, my next suggestion to you would be to simply depress the reset button, which I am sure that you already have (this should have been your first action). From there, I would tell you to back up your phone contacts and files and let the batteries die so that it cleans the memory and reset it up (after verifying that it works as a phone, of course). If this does not work, reflash it completely and set back up.
I initially used the Nov 04 rom on mine and it worked completely fine. I then upgraded to Feb 05 rom and saw that it was crap so I immediately went to Mar 05 rom (which added support for american phone number spacing, and also got rid of the 310150 and replaced it with Cingular Wireless (310 stands for USA, 150 is Cingular's code). I have never had a problem with my phone in the Atlanta market (where I live) or even in London, UK.
Hope this helps.
