Broadband Access Questions

Howdy All,

Now, I have had the 'Q' for sometime now and I am in a position where I need to use it for my internet connection for a week or so and I am unsure what type of service I should be receiving. It may simply be my location.

Here it goes, I have my 'Q' with tethering option from Verizon. Now, I don't check all the time but my phone normally tells me when a 'Broadband Access' is available and I have seen it quite a bit where I am at, however, whenever ever I connect via tethering in the Wireless Manager I no longer see the 'Broadband Access' message under phone. Is this due to not having broadband at that moment or because I am connected.

I did a speed test the other day and I had 232/11 and that 11 kbps rated 95% worse than other VZW subscribers.

Perhaps it is simply the area I am in, so perhaps I am just getting National Access an not Broadband Access.

While the connection has been OK, I am sure I have had faster connections.

My location happens to be Long Beach Island, NJ at the moment if this helps anyone who has had issues such as this before.

Thanks,

You shoulld be able to find out what is available on your local towers by calling level 2 support. They can test the tower and determine if there is a problem. If you don't have the Ev symbol, it is likely you are on 1X.

However. 1X should give you 200 kbps speeds. If you aren't getting that speed, you may have an issue with the device.

Rob,

Thanks for the reply and you are 100% correct. I have found a couple of secret spots in the beach house with EVDO service.

Seems the beach house has something against broadband, I guess it is a sign that I should be lounging rather than working.
