ok so right after i posted this i decided to look through the phone for a problem.... i went into the phone settings->connections->usb to pc... the box for (enable anvanced network functionality) was checked... i unchecked it and the activesync noise went off on my pc and the damn thing connected...... do you think the phone was connecting before while it was checked?..... or did the phone somehow check that box on its own causing it to not connect earlier today?...... i have to tell you i never had this much of a headache with my Treo 600 or 650...... there are so many features, functions, and optoins of this phone that the manual tells you nothing about....

A lot of it depends on what you are connecting to, like XP or Vista and what version of Activesync, etc. I connect to AS 4.1 and XP and my Advanced Networking is checked. I have had no issues with AS.

The default setting for Advanced Networking is checked. Possibly when you did you master reset (hard reset), was when it was set to checked.

Sorry for your frustration. Glad you got it working.

Rob.

I could never get AS 4.5 to sync with my Exchange server, so I went back to AS 4.2. Really odd.

I am a new user, although I have had a regular Q for about a year. I bought aQ9c on Monday and set it up and had activesync working fine with. It just stopped late last night. Now everytime I plug my phone in, it tells me that my usb device failed to connect and that it did not work. I did download Service pack 3 for XP and installed it, but I thought activesync had worked since then. Now when I plug the Q9c in, it still shows that the usb device is not connecting. I have changed the setting a few times, including what you the other user above had done, but it just stayed the same. I did get all of my contacts downloaded and saved, but still cant figure it out.....

Try reinstalling Activesync. It replace drivers for the device, which sounds like the issue. If you haven't already done so, and the previous did not solve it, try toggling the Advanced networking option the Connections settings menu under USB to PC view.
