apart from sprints s sometimes crappy service. i love the q without end ! it just 'works' . the interface and the software etc. only problem is that i'll wake up and the phone will be off.. i have to take the battery off anf put it back in.. when i had the 6700 the battery would be dead anyway cuz it drains like no other. i occasonally tap the screen to hit done or cancel.. but then i just laugh and hit the correct 'button' . actually i'm typing this on my q right now. which brings me to another point.. it rocks on forums cuz the form box breakes out into a full screen. and wifi? thats what i paid a whopping $15 bucks for unlimited data for (don't let me start on what i was paying verizon...) unlimited in, (true) unlimited data... fits in my pocket and can take a drop ? loving it.
OKay I have had my new Moto Q for about a week and I am 100% sold... there are a few things that bother me, but not enough to make me want my PPC-6700 back.
I don't think I need to post a review for this device, but I love it, small & easy to use, good batt life, sweet net connection and perfect modem tethering. Bright screen, lound speakers and ear piece, clear calls, and much better keyboard layout "surprisingly"
i have deployed the Q to our upper management. No problems from an IT perspective. They are all very stable units and easy to provide support for. I have not had anyone request to get a blackberry back.
comparisons between a smartphone and ppc are not really apples to apples. I have no experience with the 6700 but i wouldn't trade my i730 for a Q.
well the PPC 6700 really jusy ahs the full version of Win Mobile.. nothing much more.. atleast anything on that phone that this phone lacks was not something I used... so I can dismiss not having word, or excel or Powerpoint... give me bluetooth modem, and USB modem and I am good...
The thing I see the Q has over the I730 which I hated in the PPC-6700 was the slide. No slide equals pure bliss...
i am debating the same trade soon from the 6700 to the Q, a couple questions i have which have not been brought up is that the 6700 had a low bluetooth volume, is the Q's BT volume better? and i think it does, but correct me if i am wrong, the Q DOES support A2DP for stereo BT headphones.

I use both hands free and stereo headsets and find the volume very good (sometimes need to turn it down). I have not used to the 6700 to compare, but have believe you will find the Q very adequate on volume.

I have a question someone here may be able to help me with. I just purchased a "brand new" Q off ebay, with the 6700 you could type in ##786# and it would give you the life timers and refurbishment status, when I pull this new Q out of the box, will the ##786# work? or is there another way to find out? thank you in advance.

what kind of stereo BT headset do you use? because i can not find my seidio 2.5-3.5mm plug and would rather go wireless anyways. i am going to be using it a lot for cutting grass, i just want to know if the headset will hold up

On Q vs. 6700 (or 6800 for that matter) I've tried them all and just sent back my 6800 (6700 was sold a while back). I think the Q wins in the area of usability--for me it's the keeper of the bunch. Q has best phone and audio by far and the bluetooth flat works. Can't wait to see if Sprint gets the new Q later this year.
i now have a moto q thru alltel, and i have dad 5 ppc-6700's/ last one with a hacked 3.5. I didnt really like the q at first as i missed the touch screen. but that quickly faded away and i must say after doing the necessary hacks, this is by far the best, most stable win mobile device i have used. the speakerphone is light years ahead of the 6700's. no lock ups, excellent reception, beautiful screen and much much more. dont get me wrong, i am still a major ppc fan boy, but until the 6800 comes out on alltel(which will probably be the next decade) i will be keepin this. Just a quick tip, do the speed hacks and there are so many different themes for the q that can transform your screen to make it look like a COMPLETELY different device. i now feel like i have a slim, powerful device in my pocket. it may not be the best thing out, but it gets the job done, and a damn good job at that. good luck!
p.s. try opera instead of pie!!

I have tried several of the hacks, and have not really found them to be a big improvement. The trade off is ram memory, which is very precious on the Q.
The popular one is to increase the cache for graphics handling:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\GLYPHCACHE
Change the limit value to a larger value. I have mine currently set to 32768.
Speed Hack______________________________________________ _
1) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE
-> change limit from 16384 to 32768
2) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\STORAGEMANAGER\FATFS
-> change cachesize to 4096
THIS ONE IS TO DISABLE THE SMS SENT NOTIFICATION, I FOUND THAT DOING THIS HACK REALLY HELPED MY PHONE OUT, THAT IS IF U TEXT ALOT
• Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox
• Next, click on Inbox (make sure the Inbox is highlighted) and select Edit, New Key
• Name the New Key as "Settings"
• Click on "Settings" (make sure the Settings is highlighted) and select Edit, New String Value
• On "Value name:", key in SMSNoSentMsg and in "Value data", key in 1
• Soft reset your device and test it with one SMS, and you will notice that the SMS Sent bubble is being disabled
ALSO THE GLYPHCACHE HACK WILL HELP OUT ALOT. THERE IS ALOS A PROGRAM THAT WILL RESTORE YOUR "DELETE ALL" FUNCTION TO YOUR INBOX! HAVE FUN
I had a 6700. Just ordered a Q for my wife to try out a PDA for the first time and myself a Mogul. Now after reading this thread I think I might want the Q !!!
I just finished playing with a coworkers brand new 6800; he upgraded from the 6700. The 6800 crushes the 6700 in every way, HTC got all the ergonomics right that they messed up on the 6700. I think it still stinks as a phone; it still didn't sound good. I didn't get a chance to try it with a BT headset, so that's the only area where I couldn't compare it to the Q or my old 6700. The Q trounces the 6700 in BT quality.
Motorola just knows how to build good-sounding phones first, and that's still what I use this for most.
The 6800 wasn't enough to change my opinion from my original 6700 vs Q review.
