No sound in earpiece

I'm having the same problem - no sound in the earpiece - the speaker works fine, the headset works fine, just not the built-in earpiece.

I've done the jogdial thing and made sure it was at full for all the profiles, but yet still no sound.

Has anyone figured out the solution to this other than a master reset?

Thanks,
mojobaer

Earpiece sound bug

OK, I've got my Q sound back. Here's what I've figured out:

I use my Q with headphones a great deal to listen to MP3s.

Twice now, separated by 3 months, when I disconnected the headphones, the sound in the earpiece in "Normal" profile was disabled. It continued to work fine through the headphones and the speakerphone, but nada from the earpiece.

I soft reset, took battery out, cleared memory, triple checked the earpiece volume via the jog dial, etc. No luck.

But when if I turn the Q on, plug in a headphone, and then unplug it, the sound magically returned to the earpiece.

Bug? I think so. It's only happened twice to me so far....

Anyone else experience this? Any other ideas?

Red face Same issue

I had the same volume issue with my Q. I held down the jog wheel at the home screen and now my sound is back. Thanks for fix.

Talking This worked for me :)

I was very disastisfied /w the sound volume while using a headset: Bose QC3. And the MP3 play back volume over built in speakers was terrible too.

Having come from PPC (Samsung i730 /w Mobile 5 on it) I was not used to the profile mechanism on in Smartphone on the Q. It took me a while to realized that sound was affected by the profile and that I frequently have all day "meetings" that impact the profile used.

When my sound went entirely away today, I traced the problem down /w the suggestion here: Earpiece Volume. Now after setting that at full and modifying all profiles to be max volume: The profile is good for me. Now, I'll set the silent profile to vibrate and use it when I am truly in a meeting that needs peace & quiet.

Thanks, noah82 your solution worked for me, too!

I love my Moto-Q. I have a 4GB mini-sd loaded with 700+ songs and I play it via bluetooth to my headphones, external speakers, and even into my car.

Thumbs up Moto Q Sound Problem

Noah 82's advice was all I needed I remember seeing the "Earpiece Volume" screen a few times, but didn't pay much attention to it. I've looked at every setting pertaining to "sound" that the device offered, nothing fixed my problem. Going back into the "Earpiece Volume" and setting it higher was the answer to last 3 days of frustration.

Thank you Noah 82

okay i know its probably been talked about before but i have no sound unless i put it on speakerphone, everything works except that i cannot hear unless the speakerphone is on.

Only thing i tried was turning the profiles back to defualt that didnt work so i did a master reset.

Just to make sure ... have tried pressing the dial button in while you are on the homescreen. This brings up the volume dialogue. If you have tried this ... forgive me .... I just wanted make sure.

When did this start happening? It likely due to a change in settings or software you recently installed.

Do you use a bluetooth headset? Sometimes there are some issues with connect / disconnect.

Do you use a wired headset? Some people have had the connector not disconnect correctly.

Sorry to shotgun the questions. Just want to narrow it down.

Rob.
