What's needed in ROM update

I have added this thread as a sticky thread. PLEASE do not use this thread to "complain" about what is not working as you would like on the Q. Just list the items you would like to see in an update. If this thread is abused, I will lock it or remove it.

Thanks.
Rob.

Here is my initial list of wants:
1. The ability to add folders in outlook and move emails to those folders (I would also like to be able to place the folders on the mini-SD card)
2. A better faster IE browser, the current one is slower thant the BB 8700 running on EDGE
3. Improved scroll wheel support that works more like a BlackBerry's and does not wrap or initiate unexpected actions.
4. Menu simplification. It takes too many steps to do simple frequent functions and this could be significantly improved
5. Easy way to change fonts
6. Add intelligence to keyboard entry ala BlackBerry (space in a url enters a period, double space in text mode adds a period and caps the first letter, knows when to put an apostrophe into a contraction, capitalizes I, add upper case to hold down of letter as the default it only shows special markings for foreign letters now)
7. Make the vibrate stornger if posible
8. Add BB Connect software so I can get my BB email
9. Add JAVA support as a standard built in capability
10. Give all applications an x for close and a _ for minimize and let me pic whether to close or minimize the application

The best and most significant thing about this phone is that with the right improved firmware it can become a truly fantastic phone as the hardware is very good.

BarJohn nailed almost everything. He just forgot 1 more thing. It needs a better task manager, so we can switch between applications easier. I would love it if I could hold down the spacebar and that would bring up the task manager and I could kill apps and switch to other apps easily.

MSFP would be nice I am really hoping it won't take 6 months for them to release that update.

My list:

1.) Fix the unlock feature so it doesn't require so many extra steps. It should not require you to have to hit Alt, Alt to enter a number to unlock. It should realize when you have entered your unlock code and just process it rather than making you press unlock again. Right now, every time I touch my Q, I have to enter 8 keystrokes to unlock it. Our Exchange server settings force devices to be locked after 5 minutes.

2.) When the phone is locked and you receive an incoming phone call, keep the display ON until it goes to voice mail or until you do some action. Right now by the time I get the phone out of my pocket the screen is black and I can't see who's calling.

3.) Fix the menus so they are smart enough to turn off Alt mode when the menu is open so menu shortcuts work without having to press Alt (or in the case of the Solitare app, they won't work at all because that app forces it to ALT mode and you can't change it).

4.) Fix the built-in applications that come with the device so that the know when you are in a numeric field and don't force me to press Alt to enter a number in a numeric only field.

5.) Make the tiny thumbnail caller ID pictures big enough so you can actually see who it is.

Make the back button take you all the way back to the messaging menu instead of the home screen when viewing messages.

Don't know if this is posible .. but I'd like to be able to add things to the home screen easily ... like on a ppc ... check the things you want and move them up and down ... I'm still at a loss on how to modify the home screens ... I'd love to use the verizon full ... but take out the news and download plugins ..

Add caller

I love the feature on the treo 700 that allows you to add a phone number to your contacts if it's new (whether you called it or they called you).
