Setup vonage to send the voicemails to your relay address and they come back to you in a nice converted format.
I just tried Gillesk's process as a temporary solution until I can figure out how to handle .wav files natively on the the Q. It took about an hour to get a confirmation email back from them to set up the process and everything worked as advertised. The actual process of Vonage sending the email to them, it getting converted and sent to me took about 1 minute. I set it up to convert the .wav file to .wma which took a 159KB file and shrunk it down to 18KB. Sound quality of the file wasn't awe-inspiring but perfectly understandable.

I would still rather find a native Q solution, but it appears that this is a great work-around in the meantime. Thanks Gillesk!

Thanks gillesk! Thats a sweet work around, got there quicker than sending it to my @vzwpix.com address and I didn't have to manipulate anything to listen to it right away.

we are using a toshiba phone system. it sends via .wav file also. I get the same error. mine says:

Cannot play back the audio stream: the audio format is not supported.

my motorola q does the same thing when trying to play mp3's and when trying to play .wmv files. don't know if there is a download to fix this. HELP!!

EDIT: I tried to play the same file on my desktop and got the same error but I did find this on MS pages:

Codec is missing

Windows Media Player cannot play the file (or cannot play either the audio or video portion of the file) because the Dialogic OKI ADPCM (17) codec is not installed on your computer.

The missing codec might be available to download from the Internet. To search for the Dialogic OKI ADPCM (17) codec, see WMPlugins.com.

I highly recommend the service referenced above. I've been using it since my last post - frankly forgot all about finding another solution because this worked so well.

Good Luck,
