I think of myself as somewhat of an expert on Bluetooth but I have not been able to get the Q to pair with my 2006 325i. The Q finds the BMW just fine but it never provides a key to pair with and hence even thoug the BMW allows me to accept the device to be added the Q does not siplay the key I need to enter so whenever I enter any key avlue it disconects the device. Anyone else had this problem? Did you find a solution?
Check the owner's manual, there should be a white card that will have your BT Passkey. Enter that passkey when prompted on the Q and all should be well. I have heard reports of the Q not syncing all of the contacts list, but it was from people that have much older bmw's or have aftermarket BT systems.
I've lost my little white card o' goodness. I have to take it to the dealer so they can read the key from the car. Perhaps I will do that tomorrow as it is a massive pain in the ass to dial/answer/talk...
It worked fine for me (2006 325xi). Turn Q bluetooth on. Go to BMW Communication screen for bluetooth connection. Initiate pairing from BMW. Use any code you want and select "Confirm". Q will ask for code. I have 977 contacts and all transfered to BMW.
It must have something to do with the other problems I am having with the Q locking up, i.e. a deffective unit. The reason I say this is that the Q never requests a password, the BMW asks if I want to allow the device to connect then when I select allow it goes to the enter password screen. No password displays on the Q for me to enter into the BMW. No matter what value I enter, as soon as I hit the enter key on the BMW (selected by selecting enter icon with i-Drive) the Q disconnects from the Bluetooth function.
Got another Q and same problem. I must be missing something. Maybe my firmware isn't the latest version on the BMW (I purchased it last November. It just never gets a psscode. The BMW connects up with my two Blackberry phones without any problem (8700 and 7290)

After you allow the device to connect on the car, you need to enter the PIN (of your choosing) in iDrive, then the phone will ask you to enter the same PIN.
Don't have this prob with my 06 330i w/iDrive (e90).
Simply went into communication, went into the bluetooth connectable screen and searched for a device on the phone.
Once it found the car you have to enter a code in idrive and then enter the same code on the phone and then you should be good.
In my wife's x3 (no idrive) this is very different. The code is supplied to you with the car. Pair via the radio and enter the code supplied to you on the phone.
It shows the BMW after the search function but as soon as I enter any code into the iDrive it closses the connection and never gives me the opportunity to enter a code in the handset. I have a 2006 325i with Nav, Bluetooth and iDrive. My 2006 was purchased back in Nov 2005. I have not had any firmware upgrades made so maybe it is a firmware issue. It pairs and works fine with my two BlckaBerries.
I have a 2005 BMW X5 and have been using my T650 for several months connecting by BT. Suddenly the BT and Stereo stops working. Dealer informs me that T650 software has damaged the TCU (power control) in the car. Can anyone expalin how that is possible since I believe the dealer is trying to get away from performing a warranty repair.
