Q

I use:

Fizz Traveler 2.31
Agile Messenger (new version)
Smartello
eWallet 4.1

The old version of Agile messenger did not display very well on the Q. It also did not work. The new version works

[quote=piggity]Opera works, but only at 240 wide. Once they update it for the Q, looks like it will be nice with the extra width.

how did you get it to work" I can not seem to get it to go to an address, is there a setting to change the screen width?

There is a "fit to screen" option you can turn off. That will give you the desktop layout if you don't mind the left/right scrolling. My issue is that the font is too small and there is no way to change it.

I'm very interested in CityTime Alarms, but version 1.6 has problems on the Q. Is v2 beta available anywhere?

As far as I know there is only a Pocket PC version. If there was a smartphone version I'd try it right now.

@bcaslis,

I don't have the url handy, but go to www.modaco.com and look in the Smartphone News forum, or do a search. You should be able to find it that way.

What are people using for 3rd party PIM apps? I use ACT on my PC and want to sync to the Q. It's well known that notes don't sync through Outlook (and I don't have 2003 anyway) so an outside solution seems appropriate.

Any suggestions?

I can't get Orneta notepad to display correctly. When i try to save a doc, I cannot get to the box to enter file name. Something is chopped off at bottom of screen and i can't scroll down there.

Also Pocket Tv won't install on the Q.

Need help with CompanionLink

Anyone who's using CompanionLink successfully, tell me what I'm doing wrong! I'm sure I'm making some kind of simple stupid mistake, but I can't get the program loaded on my new Q. I am getting a message every time, "installation of ClxPPClink.cab was unsuccessful. The installation file is not intended for this device". I have tried selecting about 8 different devices in the setup for companionlink (build 2625), and haven't had any luck yet. "Motorola Q" is not one of the options...

Thanks in advance for any help!

Microsoft Streets and Trips but NO Bluetooth GPS

I bought and installed MS Streets & trips 2006 today. It works but I can't get it to recognize my bluetooth GPS. When I try to "Start GPS" I just get an error saying that the "Microsoft Bluetooth Manager" can't be found! There is a bluetooth manager but S&T doesn't seem to recognize it. Looks like Verizon customized it too much. I did get the bluetooth GPS to work just fine with Mapopolis so I guess I'm going to be buying it.

I can't believe Microsoft's own package doesn't work properly on the Q. What's worse, they don't seem to know it yet and, of course, don't have any resolution available.

@veroson,

Are you using the latest version of Orneta Notepad for WM5? I haven't had that problem. One you navigate to the folder you want to save in, press the D-Pad center button and the focus should move to the file name aea. It's not the most intuitive thing, but it should work.

Just ditched my i730 for this yesterday. I loved the Samsung but couldn't handle the phone freezing as opposed to the times the whole thing freezes. So far I am LOVING the Q!

Anyway I'm using:
Fizz weather 2.2
I can't get the satellite map to work. Only the current conditions map displays, and I wish that was at least the other way around. Also the Home screen plug in only works if you select it from settings but then you lose some of the other features of the other home screens. So that creates a tough descision.

Smartphone Notes
This is great if you like to use text notes and it works with Outlook. I have not tried any of the advanced features; the above satisfies my needs.

Anybody find a good dictionary or a good Spanish-English Dictionary? I had used Wordbook before which is an awesome dictionay and LingvoSoft SPA-ENG dictionary, however as far as I've looked into it neither are compatible for a Smartphone.

On Fizz Weather 2.2 I fixed the map switch by pressing the "*" key thanks to their Tech Support.

Also I am using:
Wordbook which is a great dictionay that is practically a cultural dictionary as well.

SlovoEd Spanish-English Dictionary is working great. I got them both from www.smartphone.net which seemed to have a lot more apps for the Q then Handango.

Syncing Contacts

Intelli Sync worked wonders getting my contacts from ACT onto the Q!

Now to evaluate Extreme Agenda and Papyrus to see which is better on the Q - since pocket Outlook leaves much to be desired as a PIM app.
