BTW, while I'm talking about Wireless Sync, the PC Monitor application is lame.
You have to be LOGGED IN and have it running. You can't run it as a service. This means I can't put it on our Exchange Server box.
If you are out of town and have a power failure that is long enough for your UPS to not keep you powered up and your PC shuts down, you just lost your email sync.
If you are using Exchange Server, I recommend using it to do the syncing. I use Exchange Server and it is much better than WS was. It never locks up, and works very well with Activesync 4.1. AS 4.1 actually expects you to use Exchange, so the interface reflects both the desktop and Exchange server items.
Give it a try...you will like it much better than WS.

Setting Active Sync to "As Items Arrive" asks for an SMS address. It lists Other, t-Mobile or Cingular as the provider. I selected Other since this is Verizon.
I used my phone # as the address, but it says it is invalid. Looking for help and manuals...
...found it, it looks like it should be phone#@vtext.com
I use a third party Exchange service, so I do not know how to set up the server. It does sync Calendar, Tasks, Email, and Contacts. You can optionally set where to sync for each of them, ie. the desktop or Exchange.

What do you have to do to your server and what do you enter on the "Q" to make this work? Also, does it sync your contacts, task and calendar entry's?
For the true push (like BlackBerry's have) I know that you have to have Exchange Server 2003 SP2. However, the Q doesn't support that functionality yet. That is supposedly coming in the ROM update that I haven't seen any dates for other than several months away.
The Q is no different than all of the other WM5 devices when it comes to push email. MS Exchange Server SP2 came out a long time ago and the MS marketing machine started making everyone think it was automatic. The problem is that most of the devices don't support it. I have a co-worker that has the Cingular version of the Verizon XV6700 which he puchased several months ago. The ROM update that supported true push didn't come out until a month or so ago.
With the Q you can achive push email using either
1.) ActiveSync
or
2.) Verizon's Wireless Sync -- which I would NOT recommend unless that is your only choice -- see the other thread ActiveSync vs Wireless Sync
ActiveSync can do push with the Q currenly using SMS to notifiy the device. You just set the schedule to "As items arrive" and it will ask for you phone's SMS address. I'm currently using this and it works great.
You can also use ActiveSync and have it just check email periodically in the schedule.
I'm not totally sure what you have to setup on the Exchange server side to make it work. My coworker setup the server to work with his WM5 phone to sync. When we tried mine, all I had to do was setup ActiveSync on my Q to point to my Exchange Server and it worked like a champ, but that is probably because the server was already configured.
Yes, it does sync email, calendar, & todos, but unfortunately, it does NOT sync notes.
It turns out that Exchange 2003 SP2 supports two kinds of push, one that uses SMS messages and one that uses your internet connection. It turns out that the SMS one works on the Q now. VZW offers free SMS if you get the unlimited data plan, but you have to request it. Here is a thread that goes into more details. Several people have set it up, and you might want to post there to get some feedback.
