Active Sync vs Wireless Sync

I was a bit confused as to the differences between Active Sync and Wireless Sync (because ActiveSync does a wireless sync), but I _think_ I understand at this point.

I have ActiveSync setup to sync every 10 minutes. This seems to work fine.

I will eventaully want to enable email push updates, but don't want to do that until the ROM update comes out (I don't want to do SMS versions as I don't have a Text Message plan so I don't want to pay 0.10 a pop for SMS messages). I'm assuming Wireless Sync is for the push stuff. Active Sync works fine for me for now, but I would like to have Wireless Sync working if I sync manually.

So, when I first started playing with my Q I went through the Wireless Sync setup and it asked for a password. It told me I had to create one so I did, but I had to switch to the SMS message to view the PW it sent to me. When I want back to the Wizard I must have hit the wrong key or something and it was at a later screen.

Whenever I try to Sync using the Wireless Sync app, it asks for a password. If I use the password that was in the SMS it doesn't work. I don't see any way to reset the password again as there was in the initial Wizard. Any ideas on how to reset the sync password?

Thanks, that's what I needed.

I can see how to setup the account there, but you have to install some PC Monitor software (https://www.wirelesssync.vzw.com/en/Exchange.pdf). I don't want to have to have a PC running to sync stuff. I'll probably just stick with ActiveSync polling periodically for now until the ROM update with true push is available.

On this PDF, they forgot to replace the Treo image at the bottom of page 1 with the Moto Q image too. Ooops... https://www.wirelesssync.vzw.com/en/MotorolaQ.pdf

i use the PC monitor stuff. If I receive an email at my desktop, it will arrive at my I730 within 30 seconds.. I think this is "true push" as it's always talking to the VZW site and the VZW site is updated immediately with you PC when an email arrives.

Yes, that does push things out, but IMO, a huge downside is that since it is just an EXE rather than an NT service, you MUST stay logged into your PC and that the software has to be running on your PC for it to work.
