Cool New Moto Q User! Please Help!

I have had this phone for two days. This is my first smart phone. I just about have everything figured out but I am scared to fall in love with it just yet. Sprint is my provider.

Issue 1: I have a mini Sandisk 1gig that I have been using in my Nokia 6265i with no problems. I transferred to my new Q and it doesn't recognize it. Yes, I pushed in really good. I went into the File Manager, and its not in \. I went into the memory manager; it says Card Storage: Unknown, Used: Unknown, Free: Unknown. I'm lost *sigh* I put the disk back in my Nokia and transferred all my files to my computer so I wouldn't lose them. Then I copied some of my things from the puter to the Q.... OK, I'm just about out of phone space already so I really need a solution before I totally give up.

Issue 2: Why can't I get on the internet? I can if I have it hooked up to my laptop with the USB Cable. But I thought I could go wireless. WHat am I doing wrong?

Issue 3: Picture messages. Is there anyway you can send a picture or video without using email?

Sorry this is so long, but if I get these issues worked out, it's a keeper!

Ok, I solved my number 2 issue. I found this information and this fixed my 'Unable to place call' msg, everytime I tried to log on to the internet via wireless:

Step 1 > Start > Settings > Connections > USB to PC > Uncheck the box that says Enable advanced network functionality > Done (when checked, this option allows networking between devices, but interrupts these other functions)

Step 2 > Start > Settings > More > More > More (More is x3 if set to standard font size, if large font has been selected More is x4) > PCS Vision > PCS Vision > select Enable and left soft key for Done > Update Vision Profile

worked like a charm!

Are you using the original Q or the Q9c? My response is for the original Q.

For issue 1:

There's a thread here on this forum about the high-capacity cards. For 1Gb and above, there's actually two kinds of SD CARDs, and they normally don't say on the packaging which kind of RAM they're using. Standard-capacity cards up to 4Gb work just fine in the Q. Most of us format them first on the PC or buy them pre-formatted. High-capacity CARDs in 1, 2, and 4G denominations don't work. You have to be careful to buy one from a vendor who will tell you which kind you're getting and guarantee that it'll work in your phone. The thread in this forum has a link to the vendor several of us have used. You can try reformatting yours on an XP or Vista box using standard NTFS filesystem and default block sizes and see if it works. If it doesn't, you have the HC variety and will have to buy a new SC one.

Here's the link where several of us bought 4Gb cards:

Issue 3: Nope. That's not the Q, it's how the Sprint picturemail service works. Allegedly, a new one that works more like the other carriers' service is on the way but I don't know if it'll work on current phones when it arrives.

I did what you suggested and asked the vendor beforehand... now it works like a charm! Thanks!

Number 3 issue... oh well... I can live with that. All in all, I am liking so far now that I got the kinks out!

Thanks again
