I'm bumping this up ... my q9c has the same problem as the q9 ... the anoying startup noise ... with spb's new backup program for smartphones I can once again do a backup at 3 am while on the cradle and not have the phone go to the charging screen when sprite restarts it prior to backup ... thereby not restarting ... not backing up ... and ... which of course causes my alarm clock not to wake me up ... the new spb backup program for smartphones works great ...
The only issue is that sometimes if I'm sleeping not too soundly, the startup noise will wake me up ... and I only recognize one 3 o'clock per day ... and it's not 3am ... LOL
I'm hoping Rob has figured out how to get rid of this noise ... or maybe make file to load that replaces whatever file plays that is quiet ... any help Rob????

Okay...here is my idea. I would have tried it but my Vista Sound Recorder will only record WMA format and I didn't have time to find a good converter.
Make a blank (no sound) WAV file and name it vzw_startup_sound.wav. Then copy it to the \Windows folder on your device. It will not 'actually' replace the ROM version, but it will become the file that is used. Then power off / on the phone (soft reset) and the sound should not play.
This is worth a try and has worked for me on other sound files.
Hope this helps.
Rob.
