Anyone had any luck setting up their Charter email on a Droid? I can get the incoming server to work but it will not take the outgoing server. I get an error message "You must connect from Charter IP space". Calling Charter was no help. I know with Outlook for the outgoing server settings I have to use what ever IP I am connecting to. So what do I need to use for Verizon?
I googled my question and found this answer for a Pre. I tried it on the Droid and it worked. Anyone see a problem with the method listed below?
"IGNORE what Charter said the address is for Incoming and Outbound. pop.charter.net and smtp.charter.net will ONLY allow you to RECEIVE, when you try to compose, reply, reply all, forward, you will get a error, and it will NOT go out.
the correct settings should be
Mail Type: POP
Incoming Mail Server: mail.charterinternet.com
Username: myusername@charter.net (first part of your email address DO NOT omit the @charter.net)
Password: whatever the password is to access the charter email account
Port: 110
Encryption: None
Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.charterinternet.com
Authentication: ON
Username: myusername@charter.net (first part of your email address DO NOT omit the @charter.net)
Password: whatever the password is to access the charter email account

Here is the link on Charter's web site for more specific settings.

This worked flawlessly for me ....Thank you....This problem was almost a deal breaker and would have got the phone returned if I hadn't got it to acknowledge Charter.net email accounts....
Wow! Thanks so much! I struggled with this issue and this fixed it on the two accounts I added. Now, do you have a fix for the address book last name/first name or first name/last name display? The first set-up is what I have on my gmail account, but I get both types on the droid and it doesn't seem fixable.

Verizon imported my contacts from my old phone and were sorted by first name instead of last name. I found it was much easier to fix by logging into my gmail account instead of fixing it on the phone.
can you explain what you did more specifically? I thought the droid was sorting everything by first name. But I'd love last name.
I logged into my gmail account on my PC. Then I clicked contacts on the left and then edited each one. The way I got it to look right in the top block I put the last name, first name. For example, Doe, John and Jane. They may be a better way but this worked for me.
