Optus MMS & Internet Settings

Hey guys.

Im having trouble with my a920. It's unlocked and i can call and sent SMS. But i can't get the settings right for an optus simcard. They told me some settings which are

http://mmsc.optus.com.au:8002/061.088.190.010 for the multimedia message gateway.

Port no. is 9201

They keep changing their minds on the gateway address though like leaving the IP address off.

The phone tries to load the internet account when sending a mms.

1. would i need a username and password for internet setup?

2. Any ideas for a server address?

3. Do i leave IP address as automatic or put one in?

4. Proxy server settings?

I tried getting some help from Optus and B digital but nobody has heard of a920's

Wish me luck, im going to go flash my phone now and unlock it again.

Thanks in advance.

The port 9201 is usually not worth a crap and rarely works from what I hear. Try port 8080 and see if that helps. Usually if you have the port wrong it will act like it is connecting and then say "Could not connect" or something like that. port 8080 should work fine though. I am on T-Mobile in the US and they kept on telling me that I should use the port 9201 until I did research on line and found out that 8080 is what works right. So now the WAP works like a charm... the only problem is that the MMS is not because I don't think T-Mobile supports it yet.

Take care.

hey bedpod,
you say that the port is 9201 but yet in the address the port shows as 8002 (mmsc.optus.com.au:8002)... try it as this port, it should help.....
regardless - this is only the MMS gateway, and it is usualy different than the gprs one...
but if u use a new SIM, it should contain this info in it... usually...

anyways, it does not matter what phone u r using, the settings should be the same, so try and get the gprs gateway from another optus user... stuff like ip address and so on should stay on auto as a rull of thumb as the gprs server will assign new addresses for every session... (dhcp like...)

good luck
